As Sedgefield is our home, we were very amendment to have our wedding on the beach. We were surrounded with loved ones and the natural beauty of the Swartvlei beach and mountains. I couldn't stop smiling and every now and then there was something worth laughing about. Like when I put JP's wedding ring on the wrong hand! The father- daughter dance was very special, just like I imagined it since I was a little girl. We had the guests in awe as we surprised them with a fabulous, daring and energetic dance session. We were the happiest couple in the whole of South Africa when the reverend

No, we couldn't go on honeymoon. December is a busy month at the company that he works for. They did give him time off from work to get married, but going on honeymoon was a no, no...
I wanted a wedding dress that was an easy wear on the beach and a wow on the dance floor. I wanted a very natural look. Our theme was a "Kaalvoetstrandtroue" To start the event, we asked the guests to come and relax on the beach while we had a beach picnic. My dress was from Bride and Co.(Boksburg). At first I didn't fancy the dress on the rail. As soon as I had it on my body I knew: "This is the one" My makeup, hair and nails was done by my bridesmaids and my friend, Chantelle. The accessories was a gift from my groom.
We had our ceremony on the Swartvlei Beach in Sedgefield. Our reception was at "The Garden Bistro" in Groenvlei. Some of our guests did stay the night at friends and family and a private guest house in Sedgefield.
I wanted my husband-to-be to also experience the indulgence of a spa treatment before our wedding. We went to Le Spa http://www.lespa.co.za and I surprised him with a boat cruise and cocktails on the Knysna Featherbed's sunset cruise. http://www.knysnafeatherbed.com/john-benn.html
Months before the wedding, we started the preparations ourselves. Flowers was done by "Flowers on Queen" in Knysna. My mother drove all the gifts for the guests all the way from Pretoria.
No suits were allowed. Denims and white shirts were the dress code. JP had shoes on, but only for a little while. He wanted to feel his feet in the sand.
The bridesmaids dresses were a mermaid fairy theme that had to be very practical on the beach. Petro de Beer designed and made it for them.
Ds. Alwyn from the NG Kerk, Sedgefield was our Marriage Officer
Nadesh from Prisca Productions was a great videographer. Here package included the photo booth. We had lots of fun in that photo booth. I can surely recommend her to anyone. https://priscaprod.weebly.com
We wanted to plan our wedding ourselves, as part of the journey.
We had a quad bike as transport. It was the obvious choice as we were tying the knot on the beach.
The Lake Pleasant Garden Bistro prepared a three course buffet for us. It was yummie! Our humorous wedding cake was a gift from my mother-in-law. https://web.facebook.com/pages/category/Restaurant/Lake-Pleasant-Garden-Bistro-Groenvlei-134828413881447/?_rdc=1&_rdr
We wanted a paper free wedding and made use of a website invitation, a whatsapp map and an email with the finer details to all the relevant key players.
Since we met we were a natural dance couple. No lessons needed. The sound was done by one of our groomsmen and the lighting was provided by the venue.
