I remember waking up on our wedding day thinking: "This is it. This is me waking up on the day that I have dreamed of my whole life." I was not nervous, I was not scared and I was not freaking out. I was content. Content with the choice that I made the day I said yes to my now husband. I knew that I have found my person. I will never forget the emotions that ran through me the moment I saw my husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle. My face radiated with pure joy and love.
Me having a first look with my dad was also one of the most memorable moments. It was a few seconds, where it was just me and him, and I knew he was proud of the woman that I have become.
Again, the wild West Coast wind did not disappoint and during the ceremony my veil was going crazy and my husband just took the one side and I the other side to hold it down, and we all knew that we will forever be a winning team.
During the course of the night I took a moment just to take everything in. I looked at our families and saw how happy they were, I looked at the decor and the food, I looked at myself in the mirror and I loved the reflection looking back at me and I looked at the man that I now have the privilege to call my husband, and I knew: Our day was magical!! If this was the start of our journey, I cannot wait to see how adventurous our lives together will be...
Not one of us have ever been overseas, so we decided to go to Phuket, Thailand. It is such a beautiful place and we wanted to make sure that we never forget our first overseas trip together, so we decided to have our wedding date tattooed in Thailand.
I went for an elegant look. I wore a beautiful ivory coloured Nicole Spose dress from Brides of Somerset. It was covered in Chantilly lace with an illusion back with buttons running all the way down. I wore pearl earrings which I also bought at Brides of Somerset. I finished the look with a Blush pair of Steve Madden shoes. My maid of honor borrowed me a stunning pearl bracelet as my Something Borrowed. Due to the stunning back of my dress, I went for an up-style and finished it off with a hairpiece that I bought from Lovisa. I am so grateful for my make-up artist who recreated the look that I have envisioned for myself. I wanted a natural look, but with more emphasis placed on my eyes.
Brides of Somerset is run from a studio with a relaxed cosy atmosphere enabling the Bride to select her gown from a wide range of imported dresses.
We got married in the West Coast at Sea Trader, St Helena Bay. Both ceremony and reception was held at this stunning venue, which combines both an elegant and rustic feeling. Some of our guests stayed at the venue and others around St Helena Bay. A lot of our guests stayed in Langebaan. We hired a bus for everyone out of Langebaan so that no-one had to drive so far afterwards.

I am the worst girl ever when it comes to beauty regimes.... I had absolutely none! My then fiance told me that he fell in love with the girl who I am everyday so therefor I decided that I want to look as natural as I possibly can on our wedding day. I have a very pale skin and I decided that I am not tanned, my family doesn't know me as tanned, so therefor I did not go for sunbed, tan can or a spray tan. The only thing I did do, was to shape my eyebrows....for the first time! Hehe...
I remember that I looked at photos of a matric farewell once, and knew that that was going to be the decor at our wedding. I met up with Hannelie from La Bella Donna Functions and I showed her the pictures. We chatted for about 10 minutes and she just knew what we wanted. Originally I wanted a lot of Proteas and Fynbos, but a week before the wedding we were informed that Proteas was out of stock and I had to change the flower arrangements. I know absolutely nothing of flowers and flower arrangements so I told Hannelie that she knows me and she knows what I am envisioning, so she can go ahead with any flowers that she thinks can work. I was blown away by what she did with the flowers and the decor. The idea with the decor was to keep it as simple as possible, but to still create the idea of an elegant wedding. We are both nature lovers so we wanted her to incorporate a lot of greenery in the decor. We rented the most beautiful cake stand from Something Borrowed.
The groom wore a navy suit, white shirt, navy suspenders, navy tie, brown belt and brown shoes. The groomsmen looked exactly like the groom, but just without the blazer. The groom bought his blazer at Edgars and his pants and belt at Woolworths. We bought all the ties at H & M. We bought his shoes at Steve Madden in Canal Walk. The groomsmen were all responsible for getting their own shirt, pants and shoes.
My aunt created the stunning look for the bridesmaids. All 5 of them wore a navy halter-neck dress. The dress was short with floor-length navy mesh flowing over it. Once again I wanted to keep the dresses classy, but still comfortable. All my bridesmaids have different types of bodies and I really do think my aunt did an excellent job of making the dresses fit each and every one of them.
As a gift to my bridesmaids, I also asked her to make a navy Short and Gown for them to get ready in.

I found Astrid Bradley Photography at the Wedding Expo at the CTICC in June 2017. I saw the most beautiful photos and I just knew that she will be our photographer. She also did our engagement shoot and I have never felt more comfortable in front of a camera. She had the ability to capture our personalities perfectly.
I met Jako from Langeberg Weddings at the wedding of one of my friends. I was amazed by her wedding video and immediately booked him for our wedding. I have not seen our sneak peak yet, but I am sure it is going to be magical!
I did not have a planner at all. I decided to do all the planning myself =D I am so happy that I did it myself, because I appreciated every little detail at our wedding even more, knowing how many hours I have put into it.
Since both ceremony and reception was at the same venue, we decided not to hire a wedding car. We made use of the most reliable form of transport....our feet! =D
The food was prepared by the venue, Sea Trader. Our guests were absolutely blown away by the food. Even the little ones got a meal prepared specially for them.
My husbands aunt, Elsabe, made the wedding cake as a wedding gift. Once again, it looked perfect - just like we wanted it. And it tasted amazing!
My mom made her famous fudge as thank you gifts for our guests.
I did everything myself. From the save the date, to our wedding website, right through to our own little wedding newspaper named "Die Kruger-Wildtuin". I used The Knot to design our website on and used makemynewspaper.com to design the newspaper on.
We did not take dance lessons at all. In fact, we have never danced together before our first dance and it was perfect! Our sound and lighting was done by Daniel Vorster, our DJ. He did a wonderful job with keeping the party going.
