The entire experience was one of a fairytale, just like I dreamt when I was a little girl, however, the most defining and emotional moment for me, was seeing him standing at the end of the aisle, waiting patiently for me after being 30 minutes late.
Yes we did. Phucket, Thailand was the choice and one we will never regret. It was such an amazing adventure all couples should experience together.
I had the privilege of designing my own dress. I went for a princess style dress, big skirt but not too big. My entire bodice was done in Lace, with an off the shoulder finish. I wore a veil, flat shoes and a blue and white garter. I had my hair styled in an up hairdo as it complemented my dress better. I wore minimal jewellery.
We got married at our local church and had our reception on the farm, at the family wedding venue, which was an old chicken shed, but was renovated for such events.
I didn't do much in terms of beauty leading up to the wedding, but one of the things I did and still do, is wear no makeup to allow my skin a break from the products, and my skin looks much better because of it. I Also went for a spray tan two days before the wedding.
The decor for our wedding included the colours Rose gold and Burgundy. It complemented the Rustic farmstyle wedding that we envisioned. We decided to use less flowers on the tables, and went for a more modern look with the succulent plants. The bouquets contained mostly roses and my all time favorite, proteas.
The groom and the groomsmen wore Navy suits and paired it with a pair of brown shoes and belt. The groom wore a blazer and the groomsmen did not, for differentiation. All of the men wore a burgundy tie.
I bought Liam (the groom) a watch and had 'dont be late' engraved on the back as he is forever running late, it actually runs in the family, so it was our little inside joke.
My bridesmaids wore rose gold Sequence dresses and rose gold accesorises. They wore nude high heels and had their nails done the colour burgundy. The idea for the colour of the dresses was yours truly, however, they had the option to style the top part of their dresses to what suited them best. All four of them wore their hair down. I must add that they looked absolutely breath taking.
We got married at Crossways Christian Centre in Kwelera. The story behind this is that our marriage officer, Jonothan King, was unavailable at the time to peform our marriage, so we signed the papers before the actual wedding, and our friend from the church, Daniel Hobbs, married us infront of our family and friends.
Our photographer is the amazing Robyn Coldham who was not only our photographer for the wedding ( and our engagment shoot) but also a close family friend.
Our video was done by the talented Mr Nathan Hurn, who did a spectacular job on our wedding video, virtually making me teary eyed whenever I watch the video.
My planners included two very special women in my life; My mother and my Mother in law. Oh, and me too!
Good old Ford Ranger Bakkie!
Our food went with the Rustic theme of the wedding. For starters we had Roosterbrood with different kinds of homemade cheeses and homemade butter, and other preserves.
Our main course included spit meat (mutton and beef) and chicken portions. We had two hot dishes namely a veggie bake and a potato bake. We had two types of salads and homemade bread.
For dessert we cut up the wedding cake and had that with donuts and Ice cream.
Me :) ---> the bride
For the reception we had a live band and we choreographed a dance for the first dance. The song we chose was Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
