After a year of planning and stressing about decor, dresses, flowers, seating arrangements, when I woke up on the 22nd December 2018 all that went out the window coz I knew I was marring the man of my dreams.
The highlight of the day was spending every waking moment of that special day with all my loved ones.
My favorite part of the day was when I locked eyes with my soon to be husband as I walked down the isle. He had tears in his eyes and in that moment, it was clear to me that I had been beyond blessed with my own fairytale.
We loved our wedding day and we miss it. We can’t wait for our photos and video so that we can relieve the day again. But through all the excitement and changes from a Miss to a Mrs, I have realised that the wedding day, although extremely special, was just the beginning of what is going to be an amazing adventure.
We went on a small honeymoon. Funds were low and it wasn’t a good time for us to do a dream honeymoon but we packed the car and did a road trip through Titsikamma and Sedgefield.
We are planning, saving and praying that this December, our first anniversary, we will be able to go on our dream honeymoon.
I decided to hire my dress because it works out cheaper and I wouldn’t know what to do with the dress afterwards. I got my dress from Bridal Flair in Port Elizabeth. They were very helpful and patient.
I remember walking into my very first appointment saying I didn’t want a corset and netting. I didn’t have a style in mind as I wanted to have fun and try on dresses that I would never try one. After about 45min I hadn’t found a style I liked and became very dispondent. I was then bought a dress that when I tried it on bought tears to my eyes. I just new it was my dress. And yes, it was a corset that had beautiful bead and pulled tight at my waist. It then flared out with lots of netting. A real princess look, in my opinion. Even though I said I didn’t want these two specific styles, they were the ones that made me feel so beautiful.
My make up was done by Erin, Make up by Erin. It was light weight and stunning. Even though it was really hot and there were tears, the make up didn’t move. I went for a moden, natural look and felt absolutely amazing.
My hair was done by Nadia. She has been doing my hair for over 3 years and knows how difficult my hair is. She did the colour the week before my big day as well. She did a simple twist that had curls falling down and added fresh white roses. What was special is that my something borrowed was the clip my maid of honour wore at her wedding.
Our wedding was at Estate 28, here in Port Elizabeth. We had a outdoor ceremony that overlooks beautiful mountains. Our reception was held on the premises but in a marquee tent. The tent was decorated so elegantly with lots of fairy lights and a big chandelier hanging in the middle. Our photos were also taken on the sight. The venue has a massive piece of land that is surrounded by open fields, beautiful mountains and massive trees which made it the perfect backdrop for our photos
Fitness is absolutely a big thing for every bride. I tried my best to loose weight and just before the wedding, from the stress I did loose a lot of centimeters which meant my dress was a tad bit big.
I went for a spray on tan, had my eyebrows mirobladed, eyelash extensions, and obviously the normal facials and nails done. I used people that I normally go to and would recommend my nail salon, Rare Beauty, to anyone. My nails were perfect and they also did my eyelash extensions, which were so beautiful, I decided to keep them.
I loved the build up the wedding as I was being pampered the whole month of December.
Michelle Marx did my eyebrows, micro blading and shading, and it was the best thing that I ever did.
It is so important for a bride to feel beautiful on her wedding day. So whatever it is that makes a person feel good then I am all for it.
We used Precision Vision Photography. They were amazing. They made us feel so comfortable and beautiful. They also did the video. They were with us from getting ready right through till the end of the evening.
What was a special touch was that they set up a special place for our guests to leave a video message for us. This was a very special surprise for us and we can’t wait to hear all our messages
