The highlight of the wedding was when I walked in between our guests having that great feeling and know this is just our special day and then to see my husband to be standing there infront of the altar waiting for me. The look on his face was priceless. He really didn't expect me to look so beautifull. And to see him looking at me like that was the best feeling ever. Cutting the cake and feeding a piece to my husband, and giving all our guest a cupcake while taking a photo with each of them. Our first dance was also a great memory. We started so nicely and then struggled with that big dress and that made us really laugh.
No we did not go on honeymoon. We paid for the wedding ourselves and so there weren't any money left for a honeymoon.
I went for a 1800's kind of look. I love the dresses the wore in that time, I bought my dress on bid or buy so it was imported. I went for type of hairstyle that would suite my dress and face. And to just still be me. The lady that dit my makeup also did my nails. O didn't realy have a certain look in mind. Just to look absolutely beautiful.I didnt wear jeweler because my dress was already too busy with all the beads and bling. I decided on cowboy boots just to have have something to fit in for my venue that was a old barn.
We got married at Beckoning Barn in Vanderbijlpark. Only 2 guests stayed the night at Elephant guest lodge in Vanderbijlpark.
We didn't want too many flowers so we decided on something that was small and won't fade easy. We used the venues desert flowers .We rented all our decor and linen from a lady called Stella that works from home. We had little windmills on the tables with the flowers and organza and a tin with holes in for candles to give a nice atmosphere.
The groom and groomsman wore black formal pants an a white longsleeve shirt with a tie and suspenders. The pants was bought at Edgars and the shirts at PEP stores. The groom's tie and waistcoat was bought at the China mall in Boksburg, and the groomsman's tie and suspenders was bought at a local China store in Witbank.
My bridesmaid's dress was bought at the China mall in Boksburg. I wanted a long purple dress for her and when i saw this one it was just perfect for her. We decided ons curls for her and her makeup was also done by Marihana.

Esna Venter was our photographer. Esna is also my aunt and took our wedding close to her heart. She also asked a photagrapher friend to help make our photos special. We were comfortable with her and that made is so much more fun. We took photos on the premices of the venue.
We didn't have a planner. My mother Retha van der Merwe was like my planner. She organised everything and coordinate the whole day to make sure we had a very special day.
I wanted a old car for my wedding since I wanted that feeling of the old times weddings. I asked my grandfather Deon Alberts if he will be honored to drive my wedding car. We drove in a Mercedes Benz 1970 280S.
We ordered salads from a lady named Kowa who does catering in Vanderbijlpark. We ordered wors, chops and a sosatie from Economic butchery in Vanderbijlpark. We used family members to assist with the braai. We kept the meat warm in baine maries till all the food was ready. The cake was baked by Almarie from Sasolburg.
Lenie did the lazercut of the envelope box and our mr & mrs Steyn bord that was on our table. The invitations was made and designed by Esna Venter.
We were surpriced about the venue. It was absolutely stunning. It was exactly what we wanted with the theme and colours blended in so nicely. The speeches was nice with good meaning and fun when my husband had to give his speech. The men didn't really give him a chance to speak, but is was so much fun.We just practiced our dance moves at home. We didn't have think it would be that difficult to dance with a dress like that but we had fun and couldn't stop laughing. We had a dj Donevan that made our music from the ceremonie to the reception.
