My wedding day was absolute perfection from the moment I woke up to the very end when I fell while dancing and hurt my knee, and even then it stayed perfect as my husband carried me not only through the threshold, but everywhere during our honeymoon. I guess you could say he made my knees weak, literally.
Our honeymoon started off rocky as I had to visit the ER with an injured knee before we could be cleared to fly, but as soon as the plane landed in Cape town our amazing adventure began, we had a lovely stay at the Strand Pavillion, with the most beautiful ocean view, after which we stayed a night in Knysna at the Pezula hotel and then our final night at 23 on Glen in Port Elizabeth before flying back to Johannesburg.
My soft warm makeup look was done by the lovely Chreselle from IDesign Makeup Artistry, classic hollywood hairstyle by Alzanne from Magenta Blush. I found an absolutely gorgeous Wedding dress on Still White for a bargain, and beautiful white lace shoes to complement the dress, I went thrifty with jewelry as i wanted to keep it minimal, i bought some cute pearl earrings and a beautiful crystal hair piece from Lovisa to finish off the look.
One of the biggest obstacles when planning a wedding is finding the right venue, and I couldn't have dreamed of a venue more right for us than Oakfield Farms' Dairy venue. It's quaint and cosy but light atmosphere and gorgeous rose gardens was perfect for us, and the service and amount of assistance in planning/day of chores was impeccable, not even to mention the devine food and mouthwatering desserts. Oakfield also has an on site guesthouse for family which is very convenient.
This acclaimed, multi award winning venue is where romance, beauty, old fashioned hospitality and excellence come together a mere 30 minutes from Sandton and Centurion.
My bridal beauty regime was a bit out of the ordinary, instead of gyming and dieting I just went on as usual, focusing more on skincare, getting facials and massages, and getting my skin clear and glowing for the big day. I tried some at home teeth whitening but can't say I'm too sure of it's effectiveness. I did not plan my regime too well and missed out on some wedding necessities like a nice glowy tan and perfect hair colour, but in the end it's not about looking perfect, but rather feeling good, so I focused on taking care of my body and soul and the rest followed.
The style I had in mind for the wedding was very simple and clean so not a lot of decor was needed. We handmade some concrete candle holders, and hired some candlesticks and candle coasters from Hand Creations, they also supplied us with some lovely signage. Oakfield had a lot of options included for decor and did all the lighting and furniture for the reception. The lovely Erna from Magnifique Floral art did all the flowers for the wedding with some assistance from my father, who knew my vision and made it happen. The staff at Oakfield helped set everything up and tied everything together wonderfully.
The Groom and his men were very lucky to be just in time for a fantastic sale at Eurosuit, where they got shirts, pants, cufflinks, ties and pocket squares included when they hired their black suits and the groom his black Tux. They did not have many accessories other than white pocket squares and lovely boutonnieres made by Erna.
The bridesmaids wore dresses made by my mother, and the Maid of honour had a dress from Gelique. All their shoes and accessories were their own as we wanted them to add their own style to the look. Their makeup was also beautifully done by Chreselle from IDesign Makeup Artistry.
Our marraige officer was our long term pastor and dear friend Riaan Botha from Kruislig church in Rustenburg. He gave us a lovely personal and emotional sermon, and married us wonderfully.
Devan Reynders from DR Media was our Photographer and we couldn't have hoped for any better, he captured every moment so perfectly, and made us have fun while doing it. Taking photos was such a pleasure with them, they are not only the best photographers but also amazing people.
Our Coordinator at Oakfield, Nondumiso, was very good and spent every second of the day with us to make sure everything is running smoothly and that everyone is happy.
Oakfield farm did most of the catering as it's included in their packages. We were served a four course meal, which was absolutely delicious. There was more than enough food for everyone and everyone enjoyed the variety at the buffet. We opted to serve cheesecake, doughnuts, and mini quiches during Cocktail hour, which was a big success, guests loved the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the impeccable baked cheesecake from our locally owned Bakoor Jakkals, and the quiches made by a "tuisnywerheid".
We opted to design and print our own stationary as we both have experience in design, and it also saves a lot of money.
The reception was amazing! Our awesome DJ from AMA Promotions made sure that the dancefloor was always occupied and also respected our taste in music and played all the songs we love. We took it upon ourselves to work out our own dance routine, which was very simple but elegant and with the low fogger from AMA Promotions it looked very beautiful.
