Magical Moments

What a beautiful day it was - we were so blessed to have our wedding at Diamant estate in Paarl, the weather was so perfect.
There were so many memorable moments, my husbands speech in particular was really beautiful even the men cried. We decided to do something really un-traditional and instead of a couples first dance we had everyone get on the dance floor with 1 metre long sparklers which really got the party going!

My Special Day

My wedding look was modern romance, I wore a beautiful Maggie Sottero gown which was bought from eve's bridal , it had a magnificent back detail ! Worn a pair of black satin shoes, I wanted to be original and do something different.
For the hair and make up something authentic to who I am was important , so I went with my hair down and a few waves and quite natural looking make up - Just enough make up for the pictures:)

The Venue

We had our wedding at Diamant Estate in Paarl , which was honestly so beautiful with an old manor house built in the 1800's. There is accommodation on the farm for 25 guests, which was great for the family who had flown out from overseas. Our actual wedding was o Saturday, but we had a braai on Friday night as a little reunion to catch up with the family and friends we had not seen in a long time. Our total guest list was only 60 people which worked perfectly in the venue as we decided to have one long banquet table, it looked truly beautiful. With such a small amount of guests you can really feel the love in the room. I will remember that feeling forever.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Generally I am a person who does my best to look after myself beauty regime and health wise so not much changed which was quite nice because I think if I had to change my lifestyle all of a sudden I would of been under a lot of under a lot of pressure. I did however enjoy a lovely pedicure at Sorbet in Gardens and bought some really lovely lavender cream from Dr.Haushka to keep me calm, mindful and relaxed so that I was present in every moment leading up to our big day!

Wedding Elements

As previously mentioned it was really important to remain authentic, we went for our look that we love the most which is modern classic. We had stacks of white candles and white flowers such as different exotic roses, white hydraenges with a touch of blue hydraenges, the table cloths were white linen, and our under plates were the iconic VOK plates by Michael Chandler, which are navy blue with a gold rim, it was important to bring something from our dutch heritage in so our menu was placed in a gable shaped card. The menu's artwork was hand drawn by my best friend who is an artist. All the decor and flowers were down by mom , in the end she was the only person who knows exactly what our vision was. There were also lots of beautiful fairy lanterns in the courtyard and we hired strings of fairy lights and a large "N&A" from Goeters.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My husbands brother lives in France who was his groomsman in the wedding. They did not tell each other or co-ordinate what they were going to wear, it was funny because they ended up wearing almost exactly the same suite, some people were confused because at first glance they almost looked like twins. It was really cute. Antoine bought his suite from a Carducci factory shop in Woodstock.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

For the bridesmaids it was really important to design something different that the girls could wear again. So, my friend who was also a bridesmaid Natasha Coetzee from Lou + Co designed something truly awesome.
Pleated georgette black pants that look like a long skirt but are actually pants! They were so cool and all the girls loved them because they can wear them again! We paired them with a sheer polka dot top and black flower earrings so it was really modern and looked like it could of come from a Dior advert. For the photos the girls all wore black high heels but as the party started they all changed into flat shoes. Each girl had their hair differently , as we thought it was important fir each girl to feel comfortable with their look. I had six bridesmaids and can honestly say they looked stunning ! To break the black they each has a blue hydrangea bouquet.

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer was Willie Viljoen from Cape Marriages! He was really funny and kept the ceremony really short snd sweet! It was really lovely and memorable.

My Captured Moments

Hayley from Hayley takes photos was our wedding photographer! She was amazing and such a sweet bubbly person to have around on the day she made us feel really comfortable o our couples shoot. Her talent and style is more documentary style so she is an expert at capturing special in between moments.

The Wedding Planner

We did not have a planner, we did all the organising ourselves. My mom and friends did all the decor and flowers.
On the actual day Tarryn and the team at Diamant estate were amazing at making sure everything ran smoothly, not one thing went wring it was all so perfect :)

Food & Cake

Red Pepper Catering did our food-as people who are passionate about good food and wine it was really important for us!
They did such an excellent job, our canape's were tempura prawns, mini cheese burgers, oriental chicken satay and a vegetable tartlet for the vegans.
Starters: Harvest table with a selection of home made dips, preserves, artisan bread, cheeses, artichokes, imported cold meats, biltong and a lovely green salad with avo and parmesan shavings! Yum!
Main : Slow cooked shoulder of lamb , ratatouille, bacon dust and herby mash potatoes.
Dessert: Buffet table , mini creme bruleè, mini peppermint crisp tart, mini tiramisu, chocolate brownies and a bowl of berries!
Our wedding cake was a one tier silver cake made by Lameez from justt baked which was a vanilla butter cream cake, it was amazing!

Wedding Stationery

My sister designed our stationary - she did a really cute timeline too.
They were all printed at HOT INK in Kloof Street.

The Reception and Entertainment

We did dance lessons but it was such a disaster haha that we decided not to do a first dance. Instead we got all the guests on the dance floor with 1 metre sparklers it really got the party started it was awesome!
Our dj was DJ APACHE from the chop shop. He was amazing at reading the crowd everyone called afterwards complimenting how much they loved the wedding.
Our walk in song was Elvis Presley - cant stop falling in love with you.
Entrance song was Euphonik - I don't want to be your friend.
Everything was such a happy and uplifting vibe!!
