The exchanging of vows was one of the most memorable moments and of course the dancing, I enjoyed making fun of the groom because he’s not very good
I was going for a mix of modern and vintage. The chiffon and lace cape wedding gown captured that nice. I also wanted my personality to be visible in the attire, so I went for sneakers instead of heels because my husband loves my tomboy look, I had black nails because I’m not big on bright colours and my makeup was natural.
To be honest, the only thing I worried about was my skin, so I did egg masks (the oldest tradition in the black community) and that was pretty much it.
My bridesmaids chose a girly tutu look and their dresses were custom made.
No, I had my bridesmaids, maid of honour and mom to help with the planning. The groom’s money helped too
Food was prepared by my aunts and the dishes were a mix of Zulu and Indian cuisine.
We didn’t take dance lessons but we did have a rehearsal as the wedding party to learn a choreography to entertain our guests. We had a dj and it was fire!!
