The highlights and memorable moments for us started with our wedding planning and the excitement leading up to the big day. It was such a fun and exciting experience for us to plan our wedding together and seeing it all come together perfectly on the day was definitely a big highlight.
My husband and I were very blessed to have both our parents present to witness our union in marriage as we begin our joyful journey together. This is a privilege that is easily taken for granted. We honored our parents by having a ritual during the ceremony where the marriage officer called up our parents to give them the opportunity to give us a last kiss/hug before we became husband and wife, as they were the first ones to kiss us at birth and our parents' love and blessing were the first to send us on our new path as husband and wife.
We also did a unity sand blending ritual during the ceremony which symbolized the union of our lives together. As the sands can never be separated, neither shall our lives be separated. Our sand jar is displayed next to our bed and it's a daily reminder of our unity that we will cherish forever.
Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my then soon to be husband and best friend waiting for me at the altar was so surreal. It was the perfect moment! Saying our personal vows to each other was such a special way of sealing our union with words coming straight from our hearts. These moments are definitely my most memorable moments.
Last but definitely not least, another highlight was having all my guests on the dance floor having fun. From young to old, everyone enjoyed themselves.
Phuket, Thailand was our honeymoon destination. We left straight after our wedding and had the most amazing time! We thoroughly experienced everything Phuket has to offer and that we could fit in to our time there, in celebration of our marriage. From lazing on the beach with a coconut drink, to snorkeling, island excursions and elephant trekking to name a few! We made the most amazing memories and definitely kicked our marriage off with a bang!
My wedding look was elegant and modern. My make-up artist, Liezl Meyer, worked her magic and created a flawless look. I chose a dark brown eyeshadow but softened the eyes by also using a light beige colour to compliment the dark brown. The highlighter we used enhanced my best features and created the perfect glow. We finished off the look with a soft pink colour lipstick. Nicole Goosen from Oulik Vroulik was my hair stylist and created a perfectly elegant up-style. I opted for an up-style which complimented and showed off my make-up and dress. Nicole is a lady of many talents as she also did my nails and created my perfectly manicured soft pink ombre wedding nails.
My wedding dress was a mermaid shaped wedding gown from House of Silk Bridal Boutique. I fell in love with it the moment I fitted it on and knew that it was the one. I especially loved the lace detail on the dress and the open back design. My wedding shoes were peep toe stilettos with pink diamanté detail from Charles and Keith. I kept my jewellery minimalistic because my wedding dress had enough detail. I just complimented my beautiful wedding gown with a pair of elegant white gold earrings. I truly felt like royalty!

We tied the knot at the majestical Zorgvliet Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. It was the last venue that we viewed and when my husband saw how my face lit up, he immediately said that this is it!
My husband and I are originally from the Eastern Cape and we therefore provided our guests with accommodation suggestions. All the family and friends lodged together at a complex with self catering units close to the wedding venue.

I had a strict exercise regime and got up at 03h45 in the mornings to run 5k's on the treadmill before work. I also kept a close eye on my eating habits.
A facial a few weeks prior to the wedding was a must to give me the perfect glow on my wedding day. I also went for a full manicure and pedicure the week before the wedding. My facial and pedicure were done by the lovely ladies at Hey Beauty.
Our décor was done by the talented Janine van Tonder and her team at Prickly Pear Creations and Events.
We had an outside ceremony next to Zorgvliet's cute chapel. We were surrounded by Zorgvliet's breathtaking beauty and had the majestical mountains as our backdrop. It was the perfect setting that required minimal décor elements as its beauty speaks for itself.
Our colour scheme was soft pink and gold. Walking into the reception area and seeing how these two colours with touches of white and greenery in the décor created a soft, elegant and romantic atmosphere totally blew me away! It was exactly how I envisioned it. We had beautiful flower balls and candelabras for our centerpieces. We added a special touch with gold cutlery and glassware with gold rims. The day was a celebration of our love, so instead of having the usual table numbers, each table had a gold laser-cut name describing love. The pink macaroon wedding favours were also a very cute addition to the tables.
Our three tiered white and gold cake covered in fresh flowers was made to perfection by Robyn at Choc Swirl. The cake was complimented with a gold geometric cake stand. Most importantly, the cake tasted just as good as it looked!

Our special moments were captured by the amazingly talented Alexandra Graham. From the moment we met Alexandra she made us feel comfortable and relaxed which made the shoots a breeze and so much fun. We had so many laughs! Alexandra's approach to photography is a natural and romantic style. This style is exactly what we wanted as we wanted photographs that capture our love and tell our story. Alexandra perfectly describes it as follows:
"These photographs become heirlooms to bring alive your story to future generations, carefully crafted to showcase your once-in-a-lifetime memories."
We had a photo booth by Fabulous Photo Booths at the reception. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the photo booth with all the props. We also had custom made props for our guests to use and goof around in the photo booth. The photo booth produced two copies of a photo and we decided that the guests can keep one copy and we used the other copy for our guest book. The guests had the opportunity to write personal messages to us next to their photos in the guest book.
Bernie Van Der Walt was the coordinator to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the wedding day and oh boy, she was on the ball! Bernie provided us with a detailed schedule and went out of her way to ensure that everything went according to plan. Everything just fell into place so perfectly on the day and Bernie played a huge part in making that happen. She also liaised with all the suppliers and ensured that everything was delivered and set up on time. The morning of our wedding I messaged her to ask for batteries and 10 minutes later batteries were delivered to my room! She made sure to take care of every and any need. I was truly blessed to have her as my coordinator.
