We had quite a rough ride during the planning stage of our wedding... We were supposed to get married at the beach and two months before the wedding, the venue sent us an email, letting us know that the venue was destroyed in a storm, they had to cancel all their weddings for the year! I was devastated! All my pins wasted, the ideas were a soft pastel wedding next to the beach, with my toes in the sand and the sound of the waves in the background... But the Lord had other plans for us! We decided to keep the wedding in our home town, because at the end of the day, we are children from the karoo, bush and farm.... So all my ideas started changing into neutral colors in the bush! Luckily, I have friends and family who started making stuff, jumped in and help plan everything and the day turned out to be more than I ever dreamed of! We were blessed with amazing weather, my ceremony and reception was outside! At the end of it all, I just realized, that it doesnt matter where or how you get married... But if you found the one your soul loves, your best friend for life and partner in all of your life seasons you are more blessed than the biggest wedding in the world! Ive found that person and I cant wait to spend the rest of my life with him!
Yes! We went on an amazing honeymoon to the beautiful Zanzibar. Dedre from Just Honeymoons was our travel agent and she organized everything with no troubles. My father paid for the honeymoon, all inclusive, so we could enjoy the whole trip! Everything was stunning... The food, the drinks, the beaches, the rooms, the staff! Oh my goodness, we couldnt complain about anything! It was definitely the best way to start our life journey together!
My whole wedding theme, was "Beloftes in die Bos"... Promises in the bush.... Sounds better in Afrikaans though! So the look, was bohemian/busveld/nature/hip.... I love nature and animals, also being comfortable, so that was the whole feeling of the wedding.... Almost fairy in the forest like! Hair and make up was done by Merlize du toit, she is so amazing! My hair was loose curls and my headband was made out of real leaves and flowers.... Same flowers as my wedding! Make up was natural, but still classic and complimented all my features... Dress was from Olivelli, a Maggie Sotero design! The moment I put it on, I knew it was the one! It fit the whole theme perfect. Everyone shoes was "Vellies", leather shoes and the jewellery and accesories was also the nature theme... Everything was just soooo beautiful!

The reception was at our guesthouse, Villiera Guesthouse in Douglas. The ceremony was next to the river, just outside of town. My close family and friends stayed in our guesthouse.
I am not much of a health freak. But I did start eating more healthy, drank a lot of water, did some teeth whitening at our local spa, had 2 or 3 facials and looked after my hair.
The feeling was natural, bohemian, made with love and simplistic.
Everything that was used at my wedding, we made ourselves and decorated ourselves. The flowers was plain karoo colors, green, white and salmon pink/orange. The ligthing was done by one of our local guys in town and some of the furniture was from the guesthouse and some was from Celebrations/Casa Mila, an other wedding venue in town. '
We bought all of their clothes at Old khaki and Trappers. My husband likes to be comfortable, but also has good taste and likes to look good. So we combined the theme with his personality and got the nice, cool, comfortable look they had
As the theme was "vellies" they wore Vellies bought form Plaasmeisie. So the dresses had to work for an outside, bush wedding. I bought their dresses at Angels in Bloemfontein. It was in my wedding colors, something different, chick, yet rustic. I loved it and they had a great party in the comfy dresses and shoes!
We asked our local Reverent from our church, Ds. Gerber.

We tried to practice our wedding so twice, but everytime the song came on, my husband got so emotional that we never got to practising. So we just danced our hearts away on Bethel's, We dance. Everything was so magical and so beautiful!
