It started off with the build up to our Wedding Day. My Husband Warren Le Roux posted a 30 day countdown on Facebook, each day he would post a different picture of Him & I and comment of how he fell in love with me each day. Hearing from friends & family our love story on Facebook was so romantic and had touched so many peoples lives.
For me the whole wedding from getting dressed, to the church ceremony & then the reception was all a highlight for me & very memorable, I had been waiting for the day for two years & it finally happened. From every Flower thrown, to every song played, to every family & friend that was present, I will remember this day for the rest of my life.
We went on a two week honeymoon to Durban, we stayed at Sheffield Beach in the North coast.
I am a very big fan of the vintage & pearl look. My dress was very vintage, the colour was Ivory with lace and Satin, I bought my dress from Bride&co it was called "Mirella". My shoes were Gold heels, the style was similar to the style of dancer shoes. My necklace, bracelet & earrings were all pearls, cream pearls. My lingerie was a gift I received from one of my bridesmaid's at my Kitchen tea, it was a full piece cream lace body suit, very sexy.
I had two garters, one was cream with pearls which I used to throw at the reception & the other my mother made which was my something blue, I kept this one for my wedding memory box.
My make-up was done by a lady called Anna Pompa a good friend & a very well-known make-up artist, she gave me the natural look soft pink lips with big smokey eyes and long lashes.
We got married at the Greek Orthodox Church in Germiston and our reception was at the Old Germiston racecourse in Gosforth park, TBA Sales Complex. The venue did not have accommodation but some guests did stay at guest houses nearby.
I used the same skin regime as I have used most of my life. I am a big Nivea fan, I use the Toner & Cleanser face wash a7 the moisturiser, once a week I would exfoliate my face all Nivea products.
I bought my dress two years ago as that was when we planned to marry, so I had gained a bit of weight. Therefore my goal was to loose all the weight I gained so I could fit in the dress. My mother is a dressmaker so she was willing to alter it, but I did not want that. It was my goal to loose the weight & I did I lost 13kg's. My husband is a professional boxer, so I started boxing at the gym, I ran 5kilometers every day, I did the boxersize classes and I sparred with my husband to be in the ring. I also cut out start & sugar and ate clean.
It was a big accomplishment for me when I tried that dress on and it fitted.
For my décor I was going for the vintage look again, my colours were all natural colours. I had Gold candelabra's on each table with long white candles. On each table I had a gold frame with a different picture of My Husband & I from our lives, the picture was in a "Sepia" colour. Around the frame & Candle Holders was small white candles and small vases with cream roses & baby's-breath, & then cream pearls were sprinkled over the table. I had gold runners and gold tie backs on each table. My wedding was in a lapa that fitted 250 people, the lighting was candlelight & fairy light's all over the room.
The groom & groomsmen all whore black suits, black ties & black shoes with a white shirt. The men all had different style suits but the ties all matched, the groom wanted to go for the "Reservoir Dogs" look it was a movie. They found their suits at the Oriental Plaza and the ties we found at China Town in Crown Mines. Only the groom whore black braces.
In total I had 5 Bridesmaids and 2 Maid of Honours. The style I went for was very Grecian all of them had different style dresses. The colour of the Bridesmaid dresses was rose gold and my Maid of Honours was metallic Silver. We found the look in my moms dressmaking books, they each chose their own look.
Our marriage officer was my Priest from our Greek Orthodox church. In Greek his name is Pater Gerassios, which means Father Gerassios.
My Videographers & Photographers I take my at off too. I really had a "Big Fat Greek Wedding". My wedding entourage was big and we were really all over the place. Just like the movie LOL..... but they managed to capture the most amazing moments and I am forever grateful for the excellent job they did.
My photographer was Alexius Van Der Westhuizen and my videographers were Lydia & Manuel Dos Santos. Usually you wait long for your photos & videos but I got mine within three weeks.
We never had a photo booth but one of my wedding gifts was a polaroid camera, so we had a wedding photo frame and my two best friends went around the wedding and took pictures of my guests with the polaroid camera & the frame, and then they would stick the photo in my wedding guest book and my guests would write a message to the Bride & Groom.
We never had a planner, My Husband & I basically planned the whole wedding. It was stressful but we would not have wanted it any other way and we had a lot of help from Friends & Family. We truly are very blessed.
I arrived at the Church in a white BMW.
The Venue prepared the food for our wedding, it was a buffet style and our wedding cake was a gift from one of our guests.
We had our own personal "WS" logo which ran through the whole theme of the wedding. Our Invitations were designed by a friend of ours Desiree Pretorius & the Guest board was designed & made by me. I used a similar design to our wedding invitations.
Our DJ was Greek, DJ Andrew. We did not have a band just a DJ. Our lighting & sound was also done by a good friend of ours Warren Carnell.
Generally my Husband and I can dance quite well together, but the lessons were offered to us. We went for one lesson and I decided I cant do the whole lesson thing, I want our first dance to be natural and I know we can dance so why should we go for lessons. It turned out our dance went very well that our guests thought we did go for lessons.
