Having my beautiful Mother with me every moment of getting ready. A moment that I will cherish forever.
Seeing the tears run down my handsome Father’s face when he came to fetch me and dancing perfectly on our Father-and-daughter song we chose the night before- after practicing in the parking lot of their accommodation.
It was the best day of our lives, perfect in every way and we had some many memorable moments and highlights- I’d be writing a book if I were to continue. Yes, indeed we did. It was a big suprise to me- I only found out the moment that we went to check in, when the agent asked “Where will you be traveling to today” and my Husband announced “‘Mauritius”! We stayed on the South side of the Island. I was beautiful, we had a lovely stay at Friday Attitude. The service was perfect and the food even better.
In summary all of the above can be described as: Natural, Classical & Timeless.
My Makeup & Hair artist (Mikhara Ford) combined those three looks perfectly and I loved the end result- my favorite part was my most beautiful hollywood curls.
I would describe my wedding dress as sexy-at-the-back & elegant-in-front. It was an off-white matt dress with a touch a lace detail. I had lace only up onto my mid waist and a little bit on the very end. It was sculpted to fit my body perfectly, it was comfortable and dreamy and all I could hope for. My designer (Heloise Couture) combined different aspects of different dresses that I liked and created a dress that suited my personality perfectly.
For jewelry I only wore a beautiful set of vintage earrings from my Mother.
My wedding shoes bought at Charles & Keith, incorporate all of our weddings aspects: It was elegant, contained fine detailed flowers and wood. It was also slightly off-white, and went perfectly with my dress! Best of all- they were so comfortable AND I have since been able to wear them again on different occasions, because they literally go with every outfit.
To me, it is not just about doing makeup and hair but genuinely caring about my client’s wants and needs.
We tied the knot at a relatively new beautiful venue, just outside of Hartbeespoort- The Barn at Redstone Country Estate.
Our guest stayed all around the Hartbeespoort Dam, as there were more than enough accommodation to choose from all within 10 km from the venue.
For Health and fitness my then soon-to-be Husband and I joined a Crossfit Box (Crossfit Trooper Brits) & additionally did some weight training at the Gym. I also did a lot of running and walking. We both follow a very strict eating plan starting 3 months before the big day!
About a month before our wedding I did go for a teeth whiting treatment at my local Dentist- one of the best decisions.
I am a nail-biter, so 3 months before we tied the knot I started to go for gel manicures every 3 weeks. This prevented me from biting my nails, enusred that my nails were long enough for the big day and that my hands looked well groomed!
I went for 2 chemical peels in the time leading up to the wedding. And the Friday before I said "I do" I went for a full body massage at Sorbet Harties (which was so needed and worked wonders).
We went for “less is more” with decor and flowers, as the venue itself has a rustic authentic feel to it- which we appreciated. We didn’t want to take anything away from the atmosphere it created, instead just wanted to compliment the already perfect venue.
We had different types of greenery combined with big imported roses, coronations and blushing brides set in wooden boxes on the tables. There were also single stem vases and candles on the guest tables. On the main table we had a runner of the same type of flowers and greenery, with fairy-lights and flowers wreaths hanging behind us on a pallet background.
The tables were all wooden and had a rustic feel to it. The venue’s lighting is hand crafted from copper pipes really cool globes. The venue also provided comfy couches on the big veranda in front of the venue and a wooden swing!
He wore a Polo suit, navy tie, silver tie-clip and Ice white shirt from YourPal in Brooklyn Mall.It was tailored to fit him perfectly and he looked ever so handsome! His groomsmen wore navy pants also bought and tailored at YourPal. They wore navy ties from woolies and white shirts from edgars.
They wore cute short and tight little dirty-blush pink dresses from YDE. I left it up to them to choose whatever shoes they wanted to wear as long as it was nude in colour. I got the inspiration from Pinterest and looked all over to find something similar- and luckily I did :)

Our photographers were Maiden Moose. They were the perfect photographers to captured our day and all of the memorable moments. We are so inlove with their style of photography. It’s almost poetic. They were professional, shared in our joy of big day and captured real raw emotions and unposed moments in the most beautiful way.
Our videophotographers where just a great! They too were very professional and went out of their way to make us a beautiful short film. I didn’t for one moment feel that I/we were being filmed. They also spoiled us with drone footage as a suprise, which we greatly appreciated! We loved the end product, their artistic style and the song that they chose.
The venue offers a wedding coordinator as part of their services! She (Simoné van der Walt) did all of the coordinations for the day.
We didn’t have a wedding car as the venue and the guest house where I made ready was only a couple of meters from each other. My parents suprised me by decorating their car with balloons and ribbons when my dad came to pick me up.
The venue prepared all of our food for the day and it was delicious. The guests loved everything from the canapés all the way through to desert- we didn’t have one complaint.
Vovotelo Harties baked our cake- it was so delicious there wasn’t one piece left and one of our guest even ate my piece!
Troulantyntjies designed and printed our wedding invitations, our menu’s, programs and wedding favors. I designed and printed our table seatings, the songs that we sang during the ceremony and the stickers for our wedding favors.
Yes we did take a couple of dance lessons, just to get comfortable on our chosen song. It was a lot of fun! Our Dj did the sound and lighting and everyone enjoyed it.
