It was a beautiful sunny day with a little bit of a drizzle. All the flowers and the grass at the venue was so green and looked so fresh.
When I walked down the isle with my dad, I couldn't keep the tears away, all the excitement, love and pride was bursting out when I saw all the people in our lives waiting for me to arrive and then seeing my soon to be husband waiting for me with a big smile on his face.
Everything was real, this wasn't just a dream!
We did not go on honeymoon due to work, we would absolutely love to go on honeymoon, but will plan something for next year. Thailand would definitely be at the top of our list.
The style of my dress and veil definitely had a little bit of a Spanish look to it, ivory with bead work all over the dress and lace all around the veil. I had my hair in an up do with a stunning hair piece that matched my earrings. My mother bought me a crystal bracelet to go with the rest of my jewellery. I had smokey eyes with a rosy pink lipstick. My shoes was a dirty pink, plain heel with a strap around the ankle for support.
The wedding was a Forest 44 on the R44, Stellenbosch. Unfortunately the venue do not have any accomodation but they have loads of farms and guesthouses in the surrounding areas with stunning views of the vineyards and mountains.
Nestled in a pine forest in the heart of the winelands, this country venue offers a tranquil ambience and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The inspiration behi...
I was on the banting eating routine to keep the extra weight of, you don't want your wedding dress to be to small when you have to put it on on the day of your wedding. I also went for a couple of tanning sessions to look radiant when walking down the isle. I had my nails done a couple of days before the wedding and I made sure to follow proper cleansing of my face everyday.
Everything was white, grey, and green. All the tables had white tablecloths with light grey runners. I had wooden sleeper wood runners in the middle of each table with wooden boxes on top which had all white flowers with little bits of green in between. I also had some glass cylinders on the sides with the same type of flowers and green. In between all the boxes and cylinders I placed small round glass bowls with some tealight candles inside to create a romantic atmosphere. Each setting had a glass under plate with a white cotton napkin, under the napkin was a silver card with the menu on it. Around the napkin was a pin striped cotton ribbon with a card attached to it, on this card was a message to all the guests. On top of this card was a little box of white tictacs with a special printed sticker on it. We had white tiffany chairs, this was used during the ceremony and at the reception. We had white flowers attached to some of the chairs. The venue had a wooden dance floor and some colored lighting that reflects on the white dome shaped ceiling.
The groom had a black and white tuxedo, this was rented from suite hire in Somerset West. The groomsmen had black pants, black shoes, white long sleeve shits and a bow tie on, all of this was bought at Woolworths.
The bridesmaids had long light grey dresses on with grey pearl earring studs. The dresses was bought at YDE. Their hair and make up was done by the hair and make-up artists, everyone had a soft look with their hair in an up do with some braids.
June Lotze was our marriage officiant.
We had Disco Road Photography as our photographers. They were absolutely awesome, they made sure to capture all the special moments during the day. We did not use a photo booth as we wanted to make sure the photographers captured all the in between moments.
I did not have a planner to help me with all the planning before the wedding. The venue does have a coordinator to help out on the day of the wedding to make sure everything happens smoothly.
I have 2 brothers, I asked my one brother to be the MC at the wedding and the other brother to transport me from the guesthouse to the venue. I did not have a special car that I rented, I used my parents Toyota Prado, this was big with lots of space to make me feel as comfortable as possible.
The venue does have a restaurant right next to it, La Pineta, they do have a menu to choose from if you do decide to use them to prepare the food. They prepared the canapes, main meal and the desert, almost all our guest complemented them on their delicious food! The cake was made by Delana Haughton, she lives in Strand and works from her home. She creates the most beautiful and absolutely delicious cakes, I would most definitely order cakes from her in the future.
I desighned my own stationery as well as printed it myself.
The party was one for the books, there was not 1 song without anyone on the dance floor. We had a DJ we hired, Leon Mostert, he provided the music and some of the lighting. He just knows when to play what and the people enjoyed themselves up to the time we had to leave the venue.
