One of my favourite moments was just before I started walking down the aisle towards my soon-to-be husband. I had a sea of faces surrounding me, of all of the people we love most in this world. And in front of me was my best friend, tears in his eyes, joy on his face. I will never forget this moment - it was pure magic.
Another great moment was the photoshoot we had with our bridal party - we just had so much fun, a theme that was carried through our entire wedding - silly, fun, crazy. We truly have some of the best friends.
We kept it local and explored our beautiful Garden Route - visiting Plett, Gordon's Bay, Tsitsikamma, and Grabouw. Don't waste money on an overseas trip when you have everything you could ever want right on your doorstep - oceans, mountains, forests, animals, luxury, rustic, beautiful!
Our whole wedding was centred around a bohemian theme. I designed my dress and it was made for me by one of my bridesmaids who is a fashion designer. I wanted it to be simple, elegant, flowy, and comfortable. My hair was done by Vogue Hair Design and I wanted the look to be long loose curls, with flowers stuck randomly all over - making it seem like I had run through a forest and had flowers caught in my hair. kept my jewellery to a minimum, wearing only earrings and my engagement ring, my makeup was a natural look with a focus on the eyes and my shoes were elegant but comfortable block heels - so that I could easily break it down on the dancefloor!
We got married at our church in Wynberg - The Mill. It's a super trendy, minimalist but large building - we had our ceremony and reception there. Less hassle!
All of our decor was DIY - we had a bunch of friends come over to our place a few months before the wedding and make dreamcatchers, spraypaint bottles, create signs on palettes, and make boho bunting. The day before the wedding about 20 of our friends spent 3 hours helping us set up the whole venue. Everything was super boho and we made use of warm fairylights and hanging bulbs. The groomsmen built a beautiful arch and our bridesmaids decorated it with pennygum. Our flower arrangement were rustic with pops of colour - sunflowers and gerbera's were our main flowers, surrounded by fynbos.
