We spent a few days at the Vindoux Guest Farm in Tulbagh for a few days after we tied the knot. We loved staying in a treehouse and it was something that we could tick off our bucket list. We had an international trip earlier in the year so we opted to do a quick, local getaway after our wedding. Tulbagh is really a stunning place to relax and unwind and that is exactly what we did...and what we needed.
I chose a classical, plain, simple and elegant look for our wedding.
For my hair, I decided on an up-style with a birdcage veil. I am not a fan of having my hair in my face or of wearing anything on my head (that's why I decided against a normal long veil as well).
Because of being such a plain Jane, my makeup was also very natural but very pretty.
I was fortunate enough to win 50% off my wedding dress, so a Stellenbosch based designer, Janu Steyn, designed the most beautiful, comfortable wedding dress for me. I am inlove with lace so of course I needed some of that in my dress. The only dramatic thing about my dress was the train. That was a definite non-negotiable (wink wink).
Because of my dress being long-sleeved, having some lace and a dramatic train, I couldn't wear lots of jewellery or accessories. I was gifted with a stunning pair of diamond hanging earrings which was the perfect thing to finish off my look.
About my shoes...I need to mention that I probably have the smallest, narrowest feet in the world so I usually struggle to find shoes that fit perfectly. This is why shoe shopping was the first thing on my wedding to do list. I managed to find a red sandal that fitted my foot perfectly. Even though the colours of my wedding were white and dusty pink, I incorporated a bit of red into my bouquet so that my shoe wasn't a complete mismatch.
We got married at Welgelee Vineyard and Winery. This beautiful, cosy venue is located in Klapmuts in the Cape Winelands. We fell inlove with it the moment we saw it. We also loved that everything could take place there and that our guests didn't have to drive from the ceremony to the reception.
My maid of honour and I stayed at Bona Vista Self Catering Accommodation the night before the wedding. This cute place is about 6kms from our wedding venue. My family from Port Elizabeth stayed there as well.
I actually didn't change anything about my health and fitness leading up to my wedding. I ate the same (junk) food, continued doing no exercise and only had spa day the day before my wedding. I don't think that it's necessary to diet all of sudden just because you are a bride-to-be. I am grateful that my husband loves me the way I am so I didn't need to do any hardcore dieting.
As I mentioned, I am a plain Jane so all my décor was plain and simple but pretty.
Our colour scheme was white and dusty pink so all our décor was in line with that. We hired our table décor from Functions Hiring 4 u, Kuils River.
I won my bridal bouquet from the very talented Kerry Pryde from Rosemary & Thyme Event Décor. I then ordered my maid of honour's bouquet from her as well.
The Wimbledon chairs for the ceremony as well as the tables and tiffany chairs at the reception were supplied by the venue.
I am also extremely grateful to have won a R 5000 décor voucher from Grand Style Hiring. This was such a blessing as this allowed me to order additional furniture i.e. couches, cocktail tables, ottomons, a coffee table, big LOVE letters (that was perfect for photos), the cutest vintage bicycle that was put our confetti in, a baroque mirror that was used for our table seating. These additional things added the perfect finishing touch to our already perfect day.
The groom, his bestman and the (mini) groomsman wore stunning navy suits with dusty pink ties that were hired from Mr Suit Hire. Their tan colour shoe rounded off the look. They all looked really handsome.
My beautiful maid of honour wore a long gorgeous dusty pink dress. It was the first dress that she tried on when we went dress shopping for her and she fell inlove with it immediately. I couldn't be happier as I don't really like walking in and out of shops. It was a win-win situation for both of us LOL.
Our marriage officer was Pastor Henry Arendse. He played a big role in my husband's spiritual life from a very young age so he asked if I would be fine if we asked him to marry us. Obviously I agreed.
Our very talented photographer was Mark Engelbrecht from Mark Engelbrecht Photography/Creative Weddings. As far as my husband and I are concerned, he is the best in the business. He focuses on detail and captures emotions so perfectly. He made us feel so relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera.
P.S. He was the first service provider that I booked as soon as I secured our date and venue.
We also made use of Arjen Visscher from Dutch Tulip Productions. He is really affordable and also delivers quality work.
We were really satisfied with both our photographer and our videographer, and feel that we made the best choice using these gentlemen to capture the special moments of our big day.
A big plus is that the two of them knew each other as they have worked together before. It just made things that much easier for all of us.
My husband and I wanted a vintage car for our wedding. We did some research and decided on the 1965 Jaguar Mark II 3.4 (Old English White) from Classic Cats in Stellenbosch. This stunning vehicle has a red interior which matched my red sandal and my white and dusty pink with a touch of red bouquet. It was perfect!

Our catering was done by Selina Fortuin from SC Hiring and Catering. She is one of our venue's preferred caterers and really goes all out with the food. She offers such a wide variety of food and deserts and makes more than enough. Our guests were extremely happy.
Our beautiful cake was made by a lady that I studied with a few years ago. Baking is a hobby for Iris Raynard but she is really good at what she does and we were happier than happy with our cake.
I met Fatima Perestrelo from All for Love Creations at a wedding expo and I immediately knew that she would be the one that would make my wedding invitations. Her work is stunning and she takes pride in what she does. A big bonus is that she is affordable as well. When she handed my invitations to me, I couldn't help but cry. They were so beautiful and exactly what I wanted.

After all the formalities of the day were done, we had a party. Everybody was on the dance even our 70+ year old aunts.
My husband's colleague recommended a DJ (which was a friend of his) that we could use. He was one of the most affordable things for the day but he came fully prepared. He brought his own lighting, smoke machine, microphones and whatever other equipment DJ's need.
If he could manage to get everyone, from the youngest 2 year old to the oldest 70year old on the dance floor, then it was definitely a success.
