We were an intimate group of 36 people. Our closest family and friends.. Some flew in from Cape Town and Durban.
Everyone got ready at the venue... the girls were lucky enough to spend the morning in the 'Tree House'.. A wooden pathway leading to a patio overlooking the river, and 3 bedrooms built in the trees.
Most amazing moment was the walk down the aisle, seeing the emotion on my husband to be's face. The moment where I knew that I am about to make the best decision of my whole life, and ofcourse being able to celebrate it with my closest family and friends.
Mozambique, Zona Braza Lodge a few kilometres past Xai-Xai
The look was vintage. My dress, made by Nicole Hoyer Designs was ivory/champagne and very simple, but elegant and classic. With an oversized Burgundy Rose attached to my shoulder that was handmade by myself. Gold Crystal Drop earrings and vintage style burgundy heels.
My make-up was done by Sarah Swoon Make-up.
Hair done by Carla, my former colleague and also one of my closest friends.
We got married at Luiperdskloof Game Lodge, outside Bronkhorstspruit.
Most of our guests stayed over for the night, in Chalets.
I did all the décor myself. Some elements were store bought, some from antique shops, and some I made from scratch.
I ordered the flowers from a Florist in Bronkhorstspruit called Kleine Paradys. I chose them myself.
Our reception was in a lapa at the Game Lodge, the tables were set inside the Lapa and the guests were also able to make use of the outside area where there was a bonfire to create a bushveld atmosphere
The Groom wore a mix 'n match suit that blended in with the colour scheme of the wedding itself, which was dark colours like navy, burgundy, etc.
The groomsmen wore different coloured chino's, also resembling the colours of the wedding. White buttoned shirts, as well as bowties and fabric corsages made by myself.
I had my bridesmaids choose their own dress style, that they could feel comfortable and represent their own style. I chose their colours, which matched the groomsmen's colours, and had leather corsages made for them to wear on their arm, but also as a gift to them.
We got married in court a few days prior to the wedding day, but my husband's brother delivered a beautiful message at the ceremony on the day, and we shared our vows to each other in prayer.
One of my best friends is an amazing, award winning, international photographer and I had the privilege to have her capture our special moments on the day. Maryke Albertyn Photography
I was my own wedding planner. what a job!
I was transported by my gals, and the groom by his guys
The venue took care of the 3 courses throughout the evening - starters, mains and dessert. We chose a braai option for our mains course, which paired perfectly with the bushveld.
I made the wedding cake myself, with the help of my mother and friends - the day before the wedding! it was good fun, though.
I had 3 burgundy fondant roses made by Funky Baking, a bakery in Bronkhorstspruit, which I added to the cake for decoration.
funny story... I didn't want anything ordinary.. so instead of name tags for each person, a few of us took it upon ourselves to bake cookies and write each person's name on it with icing...
We made a video and slideshow to send out our save the dates and wedding invitations.. no paper wasted!
The party was real. One of the groom's best men had us play a game, which was so much fun and everyone had a great laugh.
My best friend, and also my maid of honour, was our MC and she really kept the party going by telling stories and entertaining everyone with her sparkling personality.
My new sister-in-law took care of all the music/sound/right songs at the right time. Shout out to Joanie!
