The morning of our wedding day, I woke up and it was grey and gloomy skies outside. I knew having rain on your wedding day was a sign of blessing, but with a part outdoor reception I preferred it not raining. Needless to say, we had no rain and everything went well. But we did receive our little blessing as we exited the church, both my husband and I had a raindrop falling down on our cheeks. With all this mention above, we had the MOST beautiful sunset forming just as we entered the young wheat field to get a few outdoor shots. I still believe that in that moment God painted the skies as His way of approving and blessing our marriage.
Yes we did. We went to Phuket & Phi Phi Islands, Thailand.
I wanted something very classy, yet modern with the element of timeless. My dress was dutch satin, with no fancy lace or beading work. I wanted to highlight the beautiful fabric and design of the dress. A touch of “modern” was created with two side pockets, creating a edgy feel to the look. I kept my jewelry very simple with no necklace, tiny teardrop earings and my Pandora bracelet. My hair and makeup was done by Miené Dames who drove all the way from Wellington. She did an amazing and professional job.
We got married in a little town called Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo. The ceremony was in the old NG Moedergeemente, we loved the dramatic look of this church with it’s old stained windows, cracking wooden benches and hand painted organ. The reception was held in the CP Nel Museum. A landmark to this special town.
The hall was lit up with 200 meters of fairy lights that highlighted the old yellow wood floors. We kept our decor very organic and natural. We used naked wooden tables with olive and pepper tree leaves as runners, this fitted our Italian feast theme very well. It was accompanied by gold tiffany chairs. My mom made the napkins herself with material that we sourced and I designed the stationary myself.
They had a mix of casual and stylish. We sourced the groomsmens clothing at local shops in Cape Town. The groom had his suit jacket and waistcoat tailored.
The bridesmaids dresses was bought at Bride & Co. We went with a soft classy look. The dresses fitted all three girls very well and the dresses are easy dresses to be worn again to formal events.
Dekker Stadler Jnr. He is also family. We are so grateful to him for officiating our marriage with a beautiful and personal message.
We had Lauren Pretorius as our photographer. We are so grateful that we decided to use her. She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the day. We are extremely happy with her as her work is of immense quality and creativity. We chose her as her photography style was exactly what we wanted, raw storytelling and authentic emotions. We will definitely recommend her to anyone and use her in the future to capture special moments that we share.
No we did not. But with hands on friends and family everything went smoothly.
Johanitta Marx. She was responsible for the delicious catering and also decor of our wedding. She was hands on from the start and made sure that everything was perfect. Her skills and talent in this industry made us feel relaxed and confident that everything was going to ve perfect - and it was.
I design it myself and printed it locally in Oudtshoorn at Herrie.
Out DJ was fantastic. We had Johan Brooks from Audiobrooks as our sound and lighting guy. We had an amazing time on and off the dance floor with Johan’s music selection - he knows how to entertain and I will absolutely recommend him to anyone.
