As with most girls, my wedding day was the best day of my life. The absolute highlight was seeing my husband for the first time. All dressed up and looking like a prince. I watched a whole year of planning unfold beautifully. Everything was perfect. I felt like a princess and could not wait to be Mrs Pillay!

We jetted off to Bali for 7 amazing days. From lazing by the pool with cocktails (of course), to climbing Mount Batur (the active volcano), we immersed ourselves in the culture and magic of Bali. It was unforgettable!
The Hindu culture of full of colour, rich textures and jewels so when I thought of how I wanted to look on my wedding day, one word came to mind... Regal!
I wanted to look like an authentic Indian bride (with a little modern touches).
My hair was a modern braid traced fresh orchids. Chrislene from Harringtons of London outdid herself with my hair. I LOVED it! I was her first Indian bride and I think she did a fantastic job!
When I looked at my sari for the first time I was speechless and refused to look any further. We purchased it a year before the wedding and I never felt the tingles or joy with any other sari thereafter. It was stunning cerise pink with intricate embroidery and beads. This description doesn't do it justice. My accessories were classic pieces. I was very particular with piecing together each item and overall they achieved exactly what I was going of.
We got married at the Royal Elephant Hotel in Centurion.
I drank lots of water and substituted bread and deserts for salads.
We didn't have a specific theme but we wanted soft romantic colours to compliment the picturesque backdrop of the mountains. Overall we wanted unique colours meshed with a modern twist. We incorporated our love of movies by naming each table after some of our favourites. An example of which - parents table which was called 'Father of the Bride'. To align with that, our souvenirs were mini popcorn boxes with caramel corn and chocolates. The name tags were vintage movie tickets.
The décor was done by Exquisite Functions (Kashmira) who brought it all together perfectly. We chose sherry brandy roses in tall flute vases with strings of crystal beads as the centre pieces. The sherry brandy rose inspired the colours draped on the gazebo for the ceremony and the beautiful lighting during the reception. The romantic colours and tones flowed from the wedding ceremony into the reception. Lighting was soft and warm and the entire evening oozed with love.
My groom was decked out in a Navy and antique gold traditional suit called a sharwani. One of my favourite colours is navy blue so he politely agreed with my choice of colour and he looked dashing! He has 5 close friends who we decided to dress them all the same, in cream and navy blue kurtha's to match the groom. The guys looked super cute!!!
Indian ceremony's done have bridesmaids but part of the ceremony is for the brides sister to stand behind her. So I guess you could say my sister was my bridesmaid. Sissie chose a beautiful sari in a soft cream with light pink and gold embroidery and beads. The pastel tone of her sari complimented my sari gorgeously!
Daniel West was our photographer. His work is world class.
The food was supplied by the venue. We had a buffet and each dish was scrumptious. The cake was made by Let Them Eat Cake. I surprised hubby with the cake topper which was Superman and Wonder woman. It tasted as good as it looked.
We wanted a jol and that is what we got!
Our first dance was to Ed Sheeran's Perfect into Justin Timberlake's Mirrors where all the couples joined in. But my highlight which kicked off the party was the electric slide to Ndihamba Nawe. We danced from about 9pm until 2h30am... it was epic!
