Without a doubt, the surprise wedding flash mob dance was the highlight of our wedding day! Straight after my two Maids of Honour's speech, all of a sudden people from different tables stood up and started walking towards the dance floor. I was so surprised and wasn't sure what was happening as I knew the agenda of my wedding day like the back of my hand and this was totally not included. My husband took my hand and starting guiding me to the front where they started dancing. They danced to "Marry you' by Bruno Mars and it was amazing seeing my adorable brothers, dad, mom, in-laws, cousins, aunts and family friends all doing this choreographed dance together. Only after our wedding did I find out there were 3 secret whattsap groups from 3 different parts of South Africa called Kyle & Daniela SURPRISE flashmob! Priceless!
I also sang a surprise song for my husband: 'Better Place' by Rachel Platten which was memorable for a lot of people-especially him! My MC announced, after the groom's speech, that there is someone else who likes to 'have the last say', and I stood up and sang a song.
Yes! Our motto for our 10 days in Thailand was YOHO (You only Honeymoon Once) and boy, we lived up to this motto! We did everything from snorkeling, to swimming to hiking, to tuk-tukking. We basically lived our best lives!
Barker Manor, Kloof. What a beautiful wedding venue. It has a shabby chic, country-house feel and is in Kloof (Durban) which has beautiful big trees and greenery. Our guests stayed in and around the Kloof area and many of them could stay in Durban as it is only 20 minutes away which made it very convenient.

I went running a lot and drank hot water, honey and lemon every night before I went to sleep. Other than that, I carried on enjoying life, which to me, involves delicious food and wine of course!
3 letters: DIY!
My mom and I were the wedding planners, decor coordinators, craft and woodwork creators... oh yes, and I was the bride!
I wouldn't have had it any other way. We had so much fun designing, and creating elements including wedding favors, name placeholders, table seating plans and welcome signs.
The decor was shabby chic in a rustic venue. The colours were dusty pink, greenery with a touch of rose gold and we had a harvest table for starters, a seated main and a desert table.
Our lighting was romantic and soft for the speeches and there were party lights for the dance floor!
The Groom wore a dark charcoal suit and a beige tie and looked handsome, of course! The Groomsmen wore light grey suits with beige bow ties.
My bridesmaids looked gorgeous! I wanted them to feel beautiful and who doesn't feel glamorous with a bit of sparkle?
They wore long, sweetheart blush pink/ nude dresses with sequins on the bodice.
Fr. Des who is a Catholic Priest who has known me since I was 3 years old. I went to Our Lady of Fatima School for 12 years and that is the church that I got married in.

Our wedding was very DIY and my mom and I loved every minute of planning it. Maybe we will start our own wedding planning business one day, we loved it so much! :)
My amazing Maid of Honour's dad drove us! He has known me since I was 4 years old so it was so special that he drove us. He was chauffeur, carpool karaoke and super patient waiting for us when we were doing our photos. He definitely deserves a gold medal!
A one-man-band called Forever & Cake. Kerriden, who owns this business is so talented and makes such beautiful and delicious cakes! We had a semi-naked 3 tier cake with carrot, salted caramel and vanilla layers. Yum!
My amazing friend, who is a Graphic Designer, did some 'pro-bono' design work for us. We did digital 'save the Dates' and invitations and linked through to our wedding website which had all the details that guests needed to know. The site is called ewedding.com. I would definitely recommend it!
We took dancing lessons which was so much fun but then we did a bit of an improv on the day! haha. It was far easier dancing in sneakers and tights then it was in my princess wedding dress so we did some awesome signature moves and then went to the basic waltz.
I have a big Italian-South African family so no wedding is complete without a lot of dancing and partying, and boy we danced and partied! Steven Heyns, The Wedding DJ, was our DJ and he played an awesome mix from commercial to old school which everyone loved.
