Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Keurbooms :)
We went for an alternative look, with this being said I had a leather jacket (with Mrs Peyper painted on the back), flower crown with maroon ad purple flowers, I had a crop top and a high waisted skirt with Clear Plastic Yeezy Boots as my wedding shoes. My husband played the wedding march on his guitar and we had a smoke bomb in our photos... My mom secretly made the seamstress sow my something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue into my wedding dress... I had loose curls with a flower crown, cat eye with dark purple lips and a rocker chick attitude :)
Mongena Game Lodge was our choice as they take many guests (and we wanted a weekend wedding as we had many guests coming from all over SA) and the wedding planner is included in the price. The venue is lovely, the food is outstanding and the service is very quick.
Many of the guests came the Friday night where we had dinner at the boathouse and spent quality time around the boma :)
I went to the gym, ate very healthy, did my weekly scrubs, masks and moisturising. I did do teeth whitening but I have been for years so I just did a quick retouch. My bridal party took me to a spa for massages 2 days before and thereafter went to a show of Jonathan which was like a second bachelorettes :)
I left all these details and responsibilities to my mother. She knows how to arrange any event making it look like it was no trouble at all. I just told her I woud like the wedding colours to be NAVY, MAROON AND GREEN WITH A TOUCH OF ROSE GOLD (as our wedding rings are rose gold)
The flowers was maroon and purple with pennygums hanging from the tables, chairs and food tables. Jonathan made labels for the serviettes with our initials : J&R :)
My photobooth was maroon Victorian furniture with fairy light hanging between two trees and a persian rug to make it look like a cosy room. It made beautiful photos!
The guys wore stone coloured chinos, dark brown belts and leather shoes, navy bowties, maroon suspenders and a small flower on their lappels. Jonathan bought the accessories as part of their groomsmen gifts :)
I decided on maroon, any maroon, but I wanted every girl to have their own style...So the photos were very special as all of them rocked their own looks!
Jonathan's whole family on his mom's side is in the ministry so his uncle officiated our wedding :)
My photographers an videographers are very good friends so it was nice as all 4 of them had a good understanding of what shots was being taken and to not be in each others way to get the best shots. I enjoyed them as they are very relaxed, easy-going and funny people which as a result led to beautiful photos. I had a photo booth but not manned by a photographer... the guests could take photos with their own cameras and put it on social media with #welcometothepeypers
My wedding planner was my mom for most of the planning but the wedding planner was included in the package at Mongena Game Lodge...which I thought was a big bonus!
My honeymoon suite was 20 meters away from the chapel so I transported myself with my Transparant Plastic Yeezy Boots, my bridal party and my wonderful father :)
I did not have the normal wedding cake with flour, milk and sugar... I went to Cremelat in Groenkloof, ordered many layers of different Italian cheeses which was eaten as the 5th course...I still have cheese left 3 months later so I think it was a good investment :)
I think this is the first time ever where the husband did more for the wedding than the bride :)
I trust his instincts, taste and capabilities so I just let him run with it. When we went to go print the stationary, the printers couldn't believe it was done by someone who is not a professional designer. I married a very creative person, I love him for that!
P.S. He even made surprise labels for our wine and champagne bottles... I only saw it at our wedding. He had so many surprises which I had no idea he was planning :)
My husband, being a rockstar, performed along with his own band and also his muso friends so the whole night was different artists, just getting on stage and jamming together. Pedro Barbosa did our music, lighting and he is one of the best live acts in SA. We loved having him there!
We did go for dance lessons with our friend, Alethea du Toit. She is a professional dancer and we loved every moment of dancing to our favourite blues song, Just you and me by John Lee Hooker....My husband and I fell in love over the fact that we both completely love blues.
We just spent so much time with our friends and family around the boma fire in the middle of the bushveld. Proudly South African!
