Dylan and I have known each other forever, we grew up in the same small town and were friends throughout school. We both say that we always knew we would get married one day, but neither one of us ever said it. We both ended up back in our home town after several years apart at different universities, and it was just so different and right. What had always been a great friendship was now so much more. We got engaged in December 2015 and a year and a half later we has the wedding of our dreams. He really is my best friend, and that what makes our relationship so exciting, fun and special.
Everything about our wedding day was just so perfect. Dylan and I were both adamant about getting married on the beach (ceremony and reception), despite constant doubt from everyone around us (it was the middle of winter). People joke that we were so brave, and also so lucky, as everything turned out better than we ever could have imagined. The weather was absolutely perfect, and even as we danced the night away, barefoot in the sea sand, no one got cold. We never had a doubt, but still we were blown away by just how incredible the whole day turned out. It really was just the most amazing, happy, stunning, fun and memorable day and night.
We went to Mauritius and stayed at the Sensimar Lagoon Resort.
We got married on the beach in Mazeppa Bay, which is in the Transkei. It is a very remote location, and so all our guested stayed over, at the Mazeppa Bay Hotel.
We had the reception in a beautiful Bedouin tent on the beach, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The decor was very rustic and simple, to go with the relaxed vibe of the wedding. The tables, chairs and dance floor were rented from Border Cater Hire.
The groom and groomsmen wore navy blue chinos and white linen shirts from Old Khaki.
My bridesmaids wore a variety of Merlot coloured dressed from Hoiden Bridesmaids.
Stephanie Norman was our photographer, and Pelicula Productions did the video.
We Love Events did all the coordinating as well as the decor.
A local Queenstown DJ did all the sound as well as the music after dinner. At the ceremony and before dinner at the reception we had Aston Whyle playing live music.
