David and I met in the staff room of the school we both worked at. I was determined not to fall for the gorgeous phys ed teacher...but the heart wants what the heart wants!
David is the cool cat that goes with the flow while I'm the hot-head that always speaks my mind.
We balance each other out and when he proposed to me, it felt like I was finally home.
He is the best part of me, my sun, moon and stars and we will love each other until our last breaths...

We were staying at Lake Naverone in the Drakensberg. One morning we went out on a row boat- I couldn't understand why he was so nervous!!
He got down on one knee...yes in the boat!!
We laughed about how we'd both have dived in after the ring if either of us dropped it!
The highlight was having my dad walk me down the aisle - even though he's been struggling with his feet for a long time now.
He said an incredible speech with his thick Italian accent and everyone loved it.
Another memorable moment was also not being dropped during our first dance...hilarious though.
Our seating plan was a polaroid station - you went to collect your name card and had a polaroid taken in front of the backdrop. i LOVED this idea because we got a picture of every guest that attended the wedding.
Pedro Barbosa and Dylan played some live music when we had our couples pictures done. They are amazing live and they really got the crowd going.
My amazing HUSBAND organised for us to go to Clarens and Umhlanga for a week. In Clarens we went on a quad biking safari which was amazing and very scary. In Umhlanga we visited the bird park and the aquarium. We also ate...a lot...I'm so sad it's over now1
My mom had a horrific experience with getting her dress made so we were both happy about shopping for mine. We ended up at Eurobride and I got a dress that was the polar opposite of what I thought I wanted. My dress was called "Brooke" by Eurobride and because it was very dramatic, I wanted my make-up and hair to be very simple. I was fortunate enough to have my sister-in-law do my make-up (she's an artist) and her bestie helped me with my hair. I bought a "halo" and I was so happy I got to wear it.
The wedding took place at Oxbow Country Estate. It was the third venue we had been to look at and David and I both got butterflies when we left - we just knew we had to book it. We had close family and the bridal party spend the night so we could all have breakfast the next morning. It was just stunning and they made the whole occasion really special for us.
I did try to eat a lot healthier and I cut out all fizzy drinks and alcohol the week before the wedding. I'm an English teacher so running around at school kept me pretty fit. I swear by moisturizing day and night and I always drink loads of water. I did watch what I ate and tried to make healthy choices but I definitely didn't deprive myself - no one wants a bridezilla who's hungry! I wasn't as skinny as I wanted to be but I felt beautiful on the day. No one is ever really satisfied with how much they weigh are they? I'll probably laugh at these thoughts when I'm pregnant one day!
David and I have always liked lanterns so our focus for the tables was a lantern in the middle with star-gazer lillies, different varieties of pink roses and greenery. Janelle from Pebble and Lace helped us out with the arrangements and bouquets - she did a fantastic job.David is a movie and TV boffin so we incorporated the Game of Thrones theme into our table names. Our colour scheme was navy blue, pink and champagne gold.
David and the groomsmen wore navy blue suits that they purchased from Woolworths. David's gift to the groomsmen was personalized cuff links - batman, superman, captain america, the flash an d the green lantern.
I had six bridesmaids with six very different personalities. I gave them each an "allowance" and told them to go and buy a navy blue dress that they felt good in for the wedding. They all wore nude shoes. I tied their looks together with champagne pashminas and earrings from Lovisa. I must say, they all did a spectacular job and they looked amazing!
Geoff from 3CI - he was in between flights and actually took time out of his schedule to help us - what a savior!

The chapel was walking distance from the reception hall so we didn't have official wedding transport - although the bridesmaids and I did drive down the day before and have a singing competition in the car.
Johan, the chef at Oxbow, prepared our meals. Absolutely divine food of the highest quality!!!
My bridal bestie Lauren Roets saved the day again in this regard!.
David and I are both very fortunate to be friends with Hayley and Warren Freidin from the Tailormade Group. I have known Hayley since our awkward phases in high school. They organised the sound and lighting for our wedding as well as the DJ. Hayley gave us a few pointers for our first dance (which everybody loved). It was such an honour to have them as such a big part of our day.
