My husband suggested that we spend a weekend away, just the two of us in celebration of my 30th birthday. He booked at the BEAUTIFUL Orange Grove Farm in Robertson. We spent the day exploring the wine valley, returned at sunset to a cabin lit with tea light candles and rose petals leading me to the balcony where I was met with a spectacular view, my guy down on one knee, the most beautiful engagement ring and a photographer (which he secretly arranged) in tow!
The moment could not have been more perfect, although to this day, he swears I didn't actually say 'yes'... I just think he didn't hear the 'yes' through all my giggles!
There were many memorable moments, as I'm sure there are for every bride, but the most memorable would have to be seeing his face as I walked down the aisle, the speeches made by our wonderful friends and family and knowing that the entire evening was filled with as insurmountable amount of love and laughter.
We kept our honeymoon local, and what an amazing choice that was! We visited a few destinations, all PERFECT for winter time:
1. Arum Lilly Log Cabins in Wolsely
2. Orange Grove Farm (back to where we got engaged) in Robertson
3. Kol Kol Mountain Lodge (amazing amazing amazing) in Bot Rivier
4. Villa Blu in Hermanus (back to the guest house where we spent our first weekend away together)
He is quite the romantic!
For my dress, I wanted something that complimented my shape, was soft and romantic and had some structure. I definitely got that with my Rene H Couture gown.
Vintage/old Hollywood glam was what I wanted for my hair.
Shoes had to be something different, fun and comfy and the Melissa by Vivien Westwood was a perfect choice.
We got married in Paarl winelands in Cape Town. Most guests stayed over at:
Monte Video Guest House
Val du Charron
Le Bac
The mandate for flowers was all white flowers with touches of blush and eucalyptus. I was IN LOVE with the flowers and decor done by Hester and team of Mint and Magnolia.
Groom wore a fitted suit by Fabiani, groomsmen hired suits from Eurosuit.
I wanted my bridesmaids to be comfortable and warm on the day, which is a must for a winter wedding. It was very important to me that they had a dress which suited their body types and made them feel like the queens they are. We wanted dresses that displayed simple elegance in dark navy blue. This was achieved, and they had their dresses made by Rene Heydon of Rene H Couture.
Roberta de Lilly Cassiem of Roberta de Lilly photography captured our day. She has a natural, organic, romantic style. Nothing too styled or overlay enhanced, which is exactly what we wanted.
Nantes Estate has heir own co-ordinator, Telma Pronto, who helped my co-ordinate. She was amazing in every aspect.
The cuisine was by Frikkie Janse van Rensburg. The food was sublime! Our guests still tell us that they LOVED the food and that it was among the best wedding food they'd ever had!
The wedding cake was a 4 tier, dark chocolate and salted caramel spice cake made by Cindy Solomon of Ice Me Bakery. Totally delicious!
