Highlights:
Everyone dancing on the dance floor.
Walking into the chapel and seeing my husband "to be" waiting there for me.
The food (absolutely great).
Fairy tale atmosphere.
We did go on an amazing honeymoon. We went to Zanzibar (La Gemma hotel). Really the best experience and the most friendly people. The ocean was unbelievably beautiful, photos cannot even explain or capture the beauty of the sea. The weather was warm, the food was great and the service was excellent. We went on a tour, where we visited "Stone town", went to Prison Island and did the spice tour. Stone town was definitely very interesting, a lot of people, small narrow streets and a lot of buildings. Prison Island was again amazingly beautiful, we met some of the tortoises and went for snorkeling.
A real romantic getaway, where we could really relax and enjoy each others company.
My wedding look, I would describe as subtle yet elegant. I did a half up half down curly look. My make-up was soft, and had a more natural look to it. Deciding on a wedding dress was the hardest part of it all. I looked through endless pictures of wedding dresses but couldn't find 1 that I liked both the top and bottom part. I then saw a beautiful dress at a wedding expo that Johan Botha made and decided then and there he had to make my wedding dress. Johan Botha did an excellent job with my wedding dress, I couldn't ask for anything more. Always friendly and always made time for dress fittings in his busy schedule. My wedding shoes I wasn't really stressed about, and only bought them a week before the wedding. My mother bought me a lovely jewelry set for the wedding as a present.
We got married at Avianto in Mulderdrift. A beautiful, warm and elegant venue. We fell inlove with the venue the first time we went to view the venue, and after a few more viewings at different venues Avianto still stood out as the favourite. Our guest's could sleep over at the venue if they wanted but only a few did. The morning after the wedding we all met for breakfast and everyone departed home with a good night's rest and a full tummy.
I always liked and practiced a healthy life style from when I was younger so before the wedding I really tried to eat as healthy as possible and excersice atleast 4 times a week, where I would do cardio 2 days and weights the other 2 days.
A month before the wedding I went for a facial, and a lovely night spa at Monticasino with my bridesmaids.
I always knew I wanted to have a baby blue wedding, and coincidentally we chose a winter wedding date so the colours with the season created a winter wonderland. We went to "Eventinspiration" (event planners at Avianto), and we all decided on silver, white and baby blue theme. The flowers would be white, and a bit of blue. The furniture we already had round tables from the venue but decided on silver tiffany chairs because it gave it a more elegant and fairy tale feel. There was a lot of candles, small, big, round, floating and standing all around the reception hall as well as the chapel. The centre pieces differed, we decided on a small white bird cage with candles inside and flowers around it on some tables and a white small trees with candles and pearls hanging from the branches on the other tables. For lighting we had fairy lights hanging from the roof with the new chandeliers Avianto installed earlier this year. With the decor I wanted the guest's to feel warm, relaxed but elegant almost as if they are in a winter wonderland.
The groom with his two groomsmen wore tuxedos that they hired from Euro Suit. The two groomsmen wore dark grey suits, and the handsome groom wore a light grey suit.
My bridesmaid wore long baby blue elegant dresses. I decided on long dresses as it was in the middle of winter to keep them a bit warmer.
We used Neon Photography as our photographer's. They did our engagement shoot photo's as well. They are very good in what they do. They make you feel as comfortable as possible, very down to earth, fun and friendly photographer's. They know how to make you feel special, on your special day.
Their work is fantastic, the photos are of high quality and they really put a lot of effort in what they create and do. They also made us a wedding video, and captured our special day on "tape" for us to go back and watch over and one day show our own kiddies.
We decided to not include a planner as the coordinator from Avainto, named Lizelle helped us with all the planning and details regarding the venue and the set up. Lizelle and "Eventinspirations" (event planners at Avianto) worked hand in hand with all the planning of our wedding up until the last minutes of the event. They did an excellent job, creating our dream wedding with no stress at all from our side.
The food at our wedding.... delicious can't even describe the taste of the food. Avianto was responsible for all the food and pudding at our wedding.
All the guest's complemented us on how great the food was. Avianto gave us a lot of options to choose from and every option was superb.
"Eventsinspiration" was very helpful with ideas and new interesting ways of printing stationery. They out did themselves with our stationery, very pleased with their work.
The party was a lot of fun for young and old. We wanted to take dance lessons but instead we practiced by ourselves a few weeks before the wedding in my parents living room.
We had a DJ at the wedding, "DJ Kings- Mobile Disco" who did the sound, music, fog machine and lighting. He is very professional, had a great variety of songs and knew exactly when to play which song to keep the feet on the dance floor moving.
