The highlight of my wedding was being walked down the aisle by my sons and having my parents at the wedding ceremony via Skype. We had the most beautiful weather and even though it rained the morning by the time I walked down the aisle there was no wind and the sun was shining on us. I loved that it was a relaxed warm feel to the wedding, we danced the night away and there was plenty of food and drinks to go around. Everyone young and old enjoyed themselves and that is exactly what we wanted.
Yes, we went for a few days to Warm Waterbaths in Citrusdal.
I had a cream dress with lace on the top made by Brenda Solomons of Forever Grey Fashions. My hair was curls that was pinned up halfway with a band that had shells on it. I had gold shoes with a gold choker chain and earrings and my make up was done by my bridesmaid.
We had our wedding at Boesmanland Plaaskombuis. Majority of our guest stayed for the weekend as the Friday was a public holiday. Guests stayed in private holiday homes, Club Mykonos, Protea Hotel Saldanah, Crystal Lagoon Lodge and Calypso Beach House.
This wedding was planned so quickly I did not have time to do anything. I tried to eat healthy and get as much rest as I could. I had my hair coloured and highlights added a week before the wedding.
My décor was very simplistic. I had round tables with wooden stumps that had a cover over it and white tables clothes. I had a wooden stump with 3 mason jars and candles on it. On the stump was a jar with beach sand, candles, shells and star fish in it, a jar with flowers and a pot plant that had the table number in it. on the main table we had a shell with flowers in and our Mr & Mrs sign. We had fairy lights all over the room with white draping. We went very much for the rustic beach look. Our ceremony was outside so we had chairs with white covers, heart shape stands along the rows and a red carpet.
It was a beach wedding so they donned jeans, and a white shirt.
My bridesmaids went for a dress that they could wear again. They had on a beautiful long pink dress with sandals.
We got married by the pastor of my church, Pastor Jeremiah Willemse. He is the lead pastor at Petra Life Centre church in Cape Town.
My Photo's were done by a local photographer called Natasha. She was excellent and captured every moment perfectly.
I had a team that comprised of my uncle, aunt and cousins who assisted me with making sure everything went off as planned. They went and set up the tables the morning, made sure that kids behaved, that we had wet wipes to clean the ink off our fingers after the signing of registers. If there was a glitch they were on top of it.
My uncle Gavin drove me in is silver Audi to the venue as it was only 5mins away from where I was staying.
The delicious food was made by the wonderful staff of Boesmansland Plaaskombuis. They made my delish death by chocolate wedding cake as well. Definitely by far the best cake I ever tasted.
My cousin Jade designed the invites. I printed it and she did the rest as I was allergic to the star fish that went on the front of the invites
We had an awesome party. everyone young and old had a turn on the dance floor. My husband's brother was the dj for the night and he made sure that their was music for every age and had the dance floor rocking all night.
