We met in 2015 under similar circumstances, started off as friends and it developed into more. Both of us had been married before and neither of us wanted to get married again. But over time we grew together and overcame all our past issues together. We have 7 kids between us, which certainly keep us busy, but makes our lives very interesting. The last two years we have overcome more that I think most people do in a lifetime and it's made us so much stronger.
My husband proposed on Christmas Day in 2015, he sprinkled petals down the passage and into our bedroom, when I woke up I followed the petals down the passage and there he was waiting on one knee with a huge bunch of flowers and a beautiful ring. Best Christmas present ever!
We have both been married before so our wedding day was very small, 30 people in total, only our close friends and family. It was such an amazing experience to have our kids there to celebrate with us and it made it so special that they were part of all the planning. All the girls (4 of them) were bridesmaids and my son and my dad walked me down the aisle. It was such a happy relaxed day, We had gourmet burgers and chips for lunch. It was exactly how I imagined it would be, no stress and so chilled. Our kids still talk about it and keep asking if we can do it again.
We have been saving up for a cruise in November but we went on a short break to the burg, the week after our wedding. Really looking forward to the cruise though, it's been a whole year of saving, so we plan to enjoy every minute of it
We went for a very simple vintage, shabby chic theme. Very natural make up and simple curls. Flowers were roses, proteas and succulents. My wedding dress also had a vintage look, with lace and beading. I wore simple pearly earrings and an opal necklace I inherited from my gran.
We got married at Sweet Home Wedding and Functions in Eston, KZN. Our guests drove home after the wedding, as it was a lunch time wedding.
I went for a facial 3 weeks before my wedding and generally I exfoliate twice a week. I enjoy swimming, so i did a lot of that leading up to my wedding.
All our decor and flowers were organized by Sparkle Planners, Stacey was amazing, she did everything!!
Our dress code was casual, my husband wore navy trousers, a white shirt and matching navy tie, all purchased from Woolworths.
The younger girls wore navy tutu's with cute little cardigans with gold embroidered hearts and gold pumps. My older Step daughter wore a stunning navy lace fitted dress.
We used Dream Ceremonies and our marriage officer was Beulah Haasbroek
We used Kavo R Photography, being a photographer myself, I don't like people taking photos of me, so Kavo's style is exarly what I wanted, not many posed pics and everything so naturally and in the moment. The photos perfectly express all the emotions on the day.
Yes, we used Sparkle Planners, based in PMB, KZN
We opted for no wedding cake, but had loads of yummy desserts. Our main was burgers and chips, catered by the venue. We didn't want anything formal and didn't wasn't to spend a fortune. It all worked out so perfectly.
Our stationery was designed by a friend and it was all sent electronically to our guests
We wanted a very informal and chilled vibe, so I just compiled a playlist which we played off my laptop, the venue provided the speakers.
