In January 2013 I met my hubby at a mutual friend's birthday braai. And straight away I liked him. Months went by where we would see each other again at this friend's house when there was an occasion. In July 2013 he asked me to be his girlfriend...like in the "old days"... I was so caught of guard that I spilled my drink on him. We lived in separate towns and only saw each other weekends. I remember counting down the days, hours, minutes until Friday afternoon came around and I could see him but also that terrible feeling on Sundays when we would have to part. But the wait was so worth it! He is literally my best friend and knows me better than I know myself.
We had spoken about getting engaged for some time. He took me to a jeweller where we discussed what ring I would want. Since my ring includes family jewels he wanted to ensure the design was what I wanted. This was December 2015. Now I wasn't to sure when, where or how the engagement would take place. But every weekend I ensured my nails were done hahaha. Only to have him catch me off guard one Sunday with chipped nails hahaha.
Our wedding was the best day ever. It was so fun! Also a very special day. My hubby's mother passed away October 2015 after a 2 year battle with cancer. With all our hearts we wished she could've been at our wedding. Because of this we decided to get married on her birthday and along with our wedding we celebrated her birthday. It was a day filled with so many emotions, laughter, tears and many many memories. We have the best friends and family ever. Without them this day would've been incomplete. It's a day that we will forever cherish
We did a bit of a roadtrip up the Garden Route. We started off at a lovely cottage in the knysna forest. Hubby and I love nature and I am a big animal lover so our honeymoon was packed with activities including those two interests. We did a walk through the knysna forest, beer tasting, visted the wolf sanctuary which is a must, bird sanctuary, got up and close with elephants and monkeys and apes. Also canopy tours and so much more. It was a great experience but it was freeeeeezing hehehe
Our wedding had a very rustic feel to it. My photographer describe my look as having an Audrey Hepburn feel to it. My dress, shoes, hair everything was sofisticated comfort. I wanted to look pretty but also be able to dance all night long..... Which we did!!!
We got married at The Kliplapa in the Nuy Valley outside of Worcester. The guest all slept at the venue where there are self catering rooms available
My Photographer was Lupa Media which is owned by Ezelle Louw.
Our Videographer was Matthew Bishop
Our wedding vehicle was my hubby's mom's first car. Another very special moment was having the vehicle as part of our wedding
The wedding food was prepared by the venue. Delicious!!!! Also as I am not to fond of cake and dessert is included at the venue we had a Piñata shaped as a wedding cake filled with sweets for the guests.
