George and I met through his brothers and our love story officially sparked on his twenty first birthday party. After talking for a while, we finally started dating - he just seemed to make things better. Unfortunately, both of us being stubborn we went our separate ways only to reconnect about a year later, after realizing that we were meant to be together. It have been a real life roller coaster ride but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.
We went on holiday with George's parents to Mabula Game Reserve in March 2016. It was going to be our anniversary on the 24th of March and George said he wanted to go to the restaurant for dinner. He came back and said that we couldn't go to dinner on the Thursday as it was not available so we will celebrate our anniversary a bit early - on the Monday.
We get to the lodge where the restaurant is and we walk straight by it, I was very confused. We go outside and walk up a stone stairway lit by candles. We get to the top where there is a single table set for two in the bird watch tower with a waterfall under foot. George then suggested that we ask the waiter to take a photo of us and when I looked around he was down on one knee..
The most memorable moment for me, was seeing George's reaction when I walked in, I could not have asked for a better moment then seeing him at the end of the aisle. We were lucky enough to have our To dogs (our babies) in the wedding which is something I can never forget it was so unique and it was amazing to have them there as they are a big part of our lives.
Another highlight that comes to mind, is having the Wedding Bashers there! What an amazing experience that was!
We left on honeymoon, the Monday after our amazing wedding! It was one of the best surprise surprises!
We went to Karon in Thailand for a whole week of luxury.
I wanted an elegant, unique look for my wedding.
My dress was bought at Olivelli in Northcliff and it captured everything that I ever wanted in a dress - it made me feel so beautiful and that is all I could ask for.
I had two pairs of shoes - a pair of sparkly high healed pumps for the I dos and a pair of wedges so that I could dance the nignt away.
I had underwear and stockings from Lady Jane.
I wore a pair of tanzanite studs that George had given me years ago and a pair of pearl earrings from Lovisa. As a wedding gift, George had given me a tanzanite ring which I wore on the day as well.
My hair and makeup was done by Cindi Laird from Blush Pro Make-up Agency. Cindi is such an amazing person and I was so blessed to have a such a talented lady helping me get ready on the day.
We got married at a beautiful garden venue called Maroupi. Maroupi is just outside Ballito. There is a guest house on the premise that we stayed in with a few of ur guests - such a spectacular memory!
I continued with my exercise per normal, I did not do anything very different from what I would normally do. The only thing that I did do specially for the wedding was get my teeth cleaned as well as the necessary beauty appointment such as nails and waxing.
I wanted something a little bit different but simple and elegant. I absolutely love love love flowers for we used a lot of white flowers like roses, tulips with greenery for the center pieces. We brought in grey on the table table with the table cloth with a glass underplate. A hint of pink was brought in with the name tags on a white napkins draped over the plate. The table number hung above the table with some greenery on it.
We had round table with white Wimbledon chairs, our main table was rectangular with a silver sequins table cloth and an big arrangement of flowers.
Each bridesmaid had a bouquet of light pink roses and they all had orchids in their hair. I had a big bouquet of white avalanche roses. The groomsmen all had orchids in their button holes, while the Groom had a single avalanche white rose on his.
My handsome groom wore an classic black tuxedo with a black bow tie and white pocket hankie. While his three groomsmen wore black tuxedos with a grey/silver tie - which went with our theme!
My three beautiful bridesmaids wore a grey dress from Bride and Co. This dress ended up being the most perfect dress for my bridesmaids. It complimented all three of them in such beautiful ways and was able to make them look so incredibly stunning - this was exacted home I imagined my bridesmaids to look.
Our marriage officer was Beulah from Dream Ceremonies. I honestly could not have asked for anything better - I was quite nervous about choosing the correct marriage officer for us - Beulah helped everyone to ensure everything went smoothly and went above and beyond to make our day so special.
Our photographer was the fabulous, Roxanne Davison, from Roxanne Davison Photography. If you are looking for a wonderful person to capture your wedding and help make your wedding experience even better then she is your girl! And the photographs that we have to look back on our day are truly breathtaking!
We chose not to have a videographer but we have been extremely blessed to have been chosen to be part of the new series called the Wedding Bashers on Mnet which has been such an exciting journey.
My mother, Lisa - Owner of Calicos Craft, coordinate the day and the set up of everything. It was the best because she knows exactly what I am like and what I like without me saying so.
I got ready at the venue so I did not have transport on the day. My husband and I spent our first night as a married couple at the venue as well.
Our wedding caterer was Sarah from Rocket Catering based in Umhlali. The food was absolutely outstanding! It exceeded our expectations and they went above and beyond to ensure that everything was a great success!
We got our cake from Jackie, owner of La Finesse Cakes. We chose a chocolate sponge with butter cream icing. I trusted Jackie completely and I knew that whatever cake she makes will be delicious!
My mother, Lisa - owner of Calicos Craft, designed all the stationery for my wedding.
The party was so exciting!
We just practiced our dance in our little lounge with George's brother to advise us. However we did not have a 'routine' we just went with it in that moment! Which is the most fun!
We had a DJ, Shaun - Audio Activ - he gave us exactly the right mood and made the whole day special with the music selection.
