A winter wonderland wedding...
Our wedding day was everything we could have dreamed of and more. There are no words that can do justice to the emotions one feels on their wedding day. If I could attempt to summarise our magical day in a few words it would be something as follows:
The perfect winter's day - feeling like a winter wonderland princess - having our family and friends with us - marrying my love, my best friend, my everything.
One particular memorable moment which I hold very dear to my heart, would be walking down the aisle with my father towards my husband to be. In that moment, time stood still, the emotion and love felt was so beautifully overwhelming.
Our honeymoon destination was a surprise for me up until the last few days leading up to our wedding. We enjoyed a seven nights stay at the Dream of Zanzibar, located in Zanzibar. Our resort was an absolute paradise! We will definitely be going back one day in the future.
My overall wedding look could be described as a timeless, "old school" glamour with an element of the modern day bride.
My hair and makeup was done by the very talented Clarita Smit from Clarita Smit Hair, Make-up and Lash extensions. My hair was styled into soft waves fastened to fall over my one shoulder. This look was completed with a diamante hair comb. My makeup was bold yet elegant. I had a smokey eye with lash volume and a pink-red lip.
My wedding dress was a Sophia Tolli design bought from Ever After Bridalwear. Everything I envisioned in a wedding dress I found in the Cashmere style. The sweetheart cut bodice was made of pleated diamond white satin and finished off with scattered Swarovski crystals. The skirt was made of tulle and finished off with beautiful detail.
My wedding shoes were a little different to the traditional white shoe. I came across a very pretty pair of rose gold Sissy Boy heels whilst on a shopping trip. My mind was made up right then and there, these shoes were to become my wedding shoes. My wedding shoes were practical (I could wear them again), pretty and conveniently matched one of our wedding colours.
My jewelry was simple yet striking. I wore off white pearl earings purchased from Ever After Bridalwear with my Pandora charm bracelet. I was very lucky to receive beautiful charms from both my husband to be and my bridesmaids on our wedding day.
My final look was completed with an off white faux fur cape and a rose gold (of course!) embellished clutch bag, both purchased from Forever New.
We were married at the breathtaking Allee Bleue Wine Estate (located between Stellenbosch & Franschhoek) on a very cosy and romantic winter's day. The estate has three houses which accommodated ourselves with our immediate families on the night of our wedding. Most of the remaining guests spent the night at various accommodation facilities close by.
I can't say I had a specific beauty and health regime in the days leading up to our wedding. I did however make an effort to become healthier with food choices and I committed to a gym routine. This definitely helped with not only the wedding nerves but also for overall day to day stress.
Our decor and flowers were supplied by Eventworx. The flowers were white with shades of dusty pink. The decor was predominantly white and blush-rose gold with fine touches of black. The furniture hired was simple yet elegant which complemented our colour scheme beautifully.
The groom wore a dashing black tuxedo and his groomsmen wore white tuxedos. The contrast of the black and white complemented the elegant and timeless feel of our wedding day. All tuxedo's were rented from Mr Suit Hire.
My bridesmaids wore black lace bodice dresses finished off with a flared skirt. The dresses were purchased from YDE (Miss Friday). The black dresses complemented the white tuxedo's stunningly. Their final look was completed with black faux fur capes purchased from Forever New. The capes created a very elegant and wintry look.
Our marriage officer, Brian Sephton, was recommended to us by one of my colleague's. From the get go, Brian made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. His gentle and kind nature provided such a sense of calm and wisdom during a time where one can become so easily sidetracked from the actual importance of your wedding day.
Our wedding day was captured by the very talented Migneon Marais from Pritti. By chance, I came across one of Pritti's sponsored Facebook post's which immediately caught my eye. Migneon has the ability to capture moments like no other. The fine detail and emotion captured in each photo is breathtaking.
Samantha Diedericks from FSG Events provided me with a full wedding planning package. This definitely helped with allowing sufficient time to balance work and other areas in my life in between the wedding planning. I would strongly recommend a wedding planner to all future brides.
The catering was done in house by Alllee Bleue Wine Estate. The food was impeccable. Our cake was a single tier cake with sweetie pie cupcakes purchased from Tessa's Bakery. The cake and cupcakes were a big hit!
Our stationery was designed and printed by Eventworx, the supplier of our decor and flowers.
I so wish my husband and I had the time to take dance lessons, it's something we definitely want to do in the future. Our sound and lighting was provided by Play4u.
