We went to Japan! Guy kept it a surprise until a month before the wedding, when we had to go for our visas. And it was my first oversees trip! Being a chef, this was the ultimate destination to share with my new husband!
We got married at De Uiljenes, just outside Gansbaai. We had a whole weekend wedding. The venue had enough space for everyone to sleep over. We started the party on the Friday night already with a 'bring-en-braai'.
With two equally unique and different wedding venues on the farm to choose from and surrounded by glorious countryside, you will be blown away.
Our flowers were all hand folded origami flowers, folded by us!
Our photographer, also my cousin, was Carmaine de Wet from Lovelight photography. My husband was in charge of the photobooth. He designed and built the whole photobooth (hardware and software included!) It was such fun picking out all our own props!
We rented the donkey cart at De Uiljenes.
The venue, De Uiljenes, has their own in house chefs. Amazing food! Started with a Harvest Table in the forest, followed by 'soup on the stoep' and a family style meal of braai fish and roasted sage and garlic pork belly. And I have to mention that everyone is still raving about the side of pumpkin fritters! We opt for a dessert table. Being a chef, I could not resist also having my finger in the pie! I made my own wedding cake: baked elderflower and white chocolate cheesecake.
We combined 7 songs into one for our first dance. Starting off slow (for this we took some dance lessons!) with Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray and ending with Pump up the Jam by Technotronic.
