The most imperfect day the 13 May, turned out to be a magical day full of much laughter, love and many rain drops.
I woke up the morning of our wedding to a cold, grey and rainy day...I messaged the groom to inform him about our bad choice of wedding date, he replied: "Moenie worry nie my liefie, Ek het jou vlerkies in gepak, vandag gaan jy lekker rond dryf". I knew no matter what goes wrong today I'm marrying the man of my dreams and that's all that matters.
Driving to the venue was another adventure! My wedding car was a Hyundai i10, and I was driving, together with my sister in law and one of my bridesmaids. Because of the rain, the gravel road we had to take was a slippery disaster. As we were slipping and sliding from side to side, almost doing a 180 turn with the little car, My hubby to be miraculously appeared behind us and quickly came to our rescue. That's how the Bride and Groom arrived at the wedding venue together in the same car, in the Hyundai i10.
The rest of the day was a series of non stop events and belly aching laughter! From the Bride forgetting the grooms pants at home, to the groom not being able to slip on the bride's wedding ring. And the fact that we still decided to get married outside, come snow, tornado or just a good old transvaal thunder storm.
At the end of the night the bottom of my cream wedding dress was an ombre of brown. Regardless we never stopped having fun and dancing till we couldn't dance anymore. It ended off in front of the fireplace drinking our last bottle of champagne, eating left over wedding cake with the best group of friends.
This was no fairy tale story, but its our story!
