We studied together and met in our first year in one of our classes. We were not very fond of each other from get go but we became friends and later in that year realised we had feelings for each other.
He then brought a red rose to my res the one day and the rest was history.
We love horse riding and our horses are stabled just outside Stellenbosch on a wine farm. We came from church one Sunday and he said we should go horse riding and meet up with friends there. I didnt think it was weird as we do so most weekends so off we went.
Arriving at the stables he said we should prepare some food for the horses and take it to their stable so that is what we did along with two of our friends. When I arrived at the stable I nearly had a heart attack as I came across flowers, candles you name it but only realised when he was on one knee that all this was for me.
I had seven bridesmaids who are all very close to my heart so getting ready with them was the best. My mom and maid of honor assisted me to get dressed so that was also very special. Seeing the reactions of my bridesmaids when they saw me in my wedding dress was very special.
I also had a surprise horse cart arranged to travel to the ceremony yet another highlight. My maid of honor and I sang during the ceremony which was very special. Saying I do was the best and performing our opening dance as we did a kwaito mix as well as we love African music was another highlight. Partying with friends as well as the photo sessions were a blessing as well and the father daughter dance was also very special to me.
We also had perfect weather on the day.
Yes we went to Mauritius! What a blessing and absolute stunner!
We got married in autumn so my look was inspired by the season. My dress was an ivory trumpet style with floral and leave detailed lace. My hair and make up was warm and very natural as well as my jewelry.
We got married at the beautiful wine estate Zorgvliet just outside Stellenbosch.
Our immediate family and entourage stayed over on both the Friday and Saturday night so we had a braai the Friday night before the wedding as well as breakfast the Sunday morning so it was quite special!
I try to lead a healthy life so I always focus on eating healthy and exercising regularly. I did not do any crazy diet I just tried to eat balanced healthy meals and exercised at least 3 times a week. I also have a trainer who grilled me in the gym so it really motivated me to be healthy!
I also drank at least 2.5 litres of water daily and two cups of dandilion tea a day for a flatter tummy.
Regarding my skin I moisturised my body daily and used a tea tree oil mask once a week on my face which really worked for me.
My decor was inspired by autumn colours so think orange, red, yellow, gold and navy. I love candles and fairy lights and when you walked in the venue you felt like you were in an autumny place filled with warmth and colours dancing.
My husband wore a navy suit that he purchased from Edgars with a red tie and brown accesories and his groomsmen wore white long sleeved shirts with navy bow ties and suspenders with light brown chinos. They all looked very handsome.
We had the bridesmaid dresses made by Smoorverlief Bridal and they were stunning! All the dresses were burgundy and had lace detail on the shoulders and was a line shaped. The colour of the dresses really complimented the scenery and looked beautiful on the photos.
My uncle was our marriage official and he also married my parents so it was very special.
Our photographer was Moira West and she is just a natural! Her photos are stunning and she makes you feel comfortable. Vivid Blu was our videographer and they certainly know what they are doing we didnr even know they were there.
The venue provided a coordinator so it really helped to know that our day would run smoothly and that we could relax.
It was my ultimate dream to arrive in a horse cart but my parents and husband said it was too expensive. So I made peace with it but needless to say it came as a huge surprise when the horse cart pulled up on that day!
The food was prepared by Zorgvliet and it was delicious. We had a buffet to table so all the food was served on the tables. We had a wedding cake with a dessert table that was supplied by Delicious Creations and it was delicious!
Authentic planning supplied all stationary except the guest gifts and ceremony programmes which we did ourselves.
We did not take dance lessons as we can dance quite well. We opened the dance floor with an Afrikaans song but then went over to a Kwaito remix and the guests loved it as we both love Kwaito music as well. Our Dj was from PG Sounds and he definitely lived up to our expectations!!
