Hein and I worked for sister companies and we met a few years ago during Fire Marshal training which we were both nominated for. I had absolutely no idea why anyone would trust me to take charge if anything is on fire, but, I went anyway. Looking back, I know exactly why I had to be there - I have been in love ever since.
We were on holiday together in Coffee Bay in the Eastern Cape. Hein decided to take me to The Hole in the Wall which is south of Coffee Bay for some sightseeing. The Hole in the Wall is magical, it is a natural arch that takes the form of a hole pierced through a wall of sandstone and shale by the waves of the sea located at the mouth of the Mpako River. We walked for what seemed like forever, in awe of our surroundings, until he finally stopped. He took both my hands in his, got down on one knee and he proposed. That moment was the beginning of the rest of our lives. We have been inseparable ever since.

I wanted to be a timeless bride. Wendy van Huyssteen from Timeless Bridal Couture helped me accomplish exactly that when she showed me the ivory lace Suki gown from Modeca. I fell in love immediately. I ended off the look with the Jayne wedding shoes from Anella Wedding Shoes.
Hein and I got married in the woods at the beautiful Lavandou Wedding & Events Venue in Pretoria. Like every other bride, I spent hours and hours looking at websites and requesting quotations from a variety of venues. I don't remember exactly how we came across Lavandou, but I will never forget the day that we went to view the venue for the first time. Hein went into the very chapel in the woods, he sat on one of the benches, just like a guest would, he looked around at me and he said "my engel, hier gaan ek met jou trou". That was our confirmation, it felt right.
Hein and I were blessed to be married by the wonderful Pastor Darryl Fox. Pastor Darryl is so passionate about marriage. We will never forget what he spoke about during our wedding ceremony - Love, fun and respect.

Our three tier, delicious, wedding cake by Kelly Jayne's Cake Boutique was one of my absolute favorite parts of our wedding day! The gorgeous naked cake was topped off with personalized figurines of Hein, myself, our tabby cat Phoebe and our two pekingeses, Mila and Zita.
