An architect and a drama teacher. A forest in the Midlands and an eclectic barn with Eastern accents. Industrial chic met colour and kitch. Our perfect wedding complimented our perfect love story - one that started 9 years ago. We gave a piece of ourselves to our geusts. Our wedding was exactly like us. Unique, artsy, vibrant and full of fun. From the beautiful ceremony in the forest to gin, jazz and good vibes on the deck. We ate our favorite food. We danced to nostalgic swing. We spent time with friends that we haven't seen for ages and through it all, caught each other gazing at one another, eyes resonating that this truly must be the best day of the best times, yet to come.
Two sweet memories will never forsake me:
1. Seeing Vin, as the doors swung open and walking down the aisle to a song we chose as young, school lovers 8 years ago.
2. Spending most of my day with the most important women in my life. I cherished every second, knowing that I will probably never have all of them in the same place at the same time, ever again.
We took a minimoon, just to come up for air, at Cathedral Peak in the Berg. We are jetting off to Eastern Europe for our winter Honeymoon in December.
As a creative, with unique taste, my main goal was NOT to look like every other bride on Pinterest....
The dress was inspired by a Zuhair Murad creation and was custom made by designer Julie Desai. I loved the Mandarin collar and capped sleeves. It made me feel like Grace Kelly! The Elie Saab lace and apliquè flowers brought a vintage flair to the whole look and the beadwork added just enough detail to keep the dress chic.
I wore fresh, berry tone flowers in my hair with no vail for the ceremony. My jewel toned eyes and rich berry lips, complimented the entire look.
I wore my aunt's (who is like a mother to me), South Sea pearl and diamond ear rings and a new, fine floral bracelet in burgandy tones.
My shoes were gorgeous and comfy, from Dune.
My clutch was a funky, sequenced pouch that a friend bought as a gift, from India. It worked magnificently with the Mandarin collar!
We got married at Crystal Barn Country Estate in Fort Nottingham. Our nearest friends and family stayed with us at the venue.

I am a drama teacher. My hubby is an architect. With distinct different taste, we had to meet each other half way.
To summarize our decor, one could say that A Midsummer night's dream met industrial chic.
One of the highlights must have been the gin bar and harvest table, over looking a beautiful dam, with snow capped mountains as a backdrop.
My groom wore a floral and dotted tie and hankerchief to compliment his dark, navy fitted suit.
His groomsman wore vintage, tweed blazers we bought at thrift shops, with denim collar shirts, burgandy ties and accompanying navy skinnies.
I am not a huge fan of matching bridesmaids dresses, so to unify my fairies, we had them wear shades of nudes and metallics. I bought each lady her own dress that marched her personality. I also gifted them with silk, floral throws to keep them warm in the late Autumn night.
Dr Wollie Grobler. The same minister that lead Sunday school where my hubby and I met.
Koringkriek Photography. They are art photographers and absolutely magnificent. I love each and every photo captured on the day.
