You can read a bit more about our love story below, but in summary ; we met through mutual friends all the way back in 2008. We became really great friends, and would talk for hours, he would drive all the way from pretoria to Vereeniging to hang out with me for an evening (mostly because he already had a crush on me). In 2013, we went for dinner 'as friends' and something just clicked. The rest is, as they say, history.
It's safe to say that planning a wedding is an adventure on its own. We paid for the majority of our own wedding, so we needed to save us much as possible. Thus we decided to make our own decor and flowers. Since I am a bit of a book-nerd/ bibliophile, I really wanted paper flowers made from books. We tried a few designs, eventually my now-husband found a video on youtube, tested it, and that's the one we chose. Forward to many months and long days of making paper flowers, we finally finished about a week before the wedding, and the result was amazing.
We loved everything about our day, but most importantly the special times with our family and friends.
We went on our first ever international vacation, to Mauritius. This was exactly the rest we needed after the hectic-ness of wedding planning!
My bridesmaids wore midnight blue infinity dresses with chiffon. I personally made all the bridesmaids dresses, as well as my mom's outfit. I wouldn't recommend this added stress to any bride, but in the end I was happy that I made them and was able to save my bridesmaids a ton of money as well :)

Our marriage officer was my cousin. He is the funny one in our family, and also recently became a pastor, so it was the perfect fit.
Our photographer was the amazing Aline photography. She captured our engagement shoot as well. Photo's were really important to us, so we were prepared to make an investment in a great photographer, and we are so glad that we chose Aline.
Our videographer was RandyRooi Photography. I have actually known randy for years, and having him be able to do the video for our wedding made it that much more awesome. He did a great job and we are so glad that we will always have a video to look back on the forgotten speeches/vows/ and sermon.
We had a day-of Coordinator that really helped to take the stress off worrying about the decor, or anything else being in place. She kept our schedule running perfectly smoothly and even kept the parents calm.
The venue prepared the food for our wedding, and my bridesmaid and an amazing baker, made our cake. It was such a yummy cake, and all the guests went back for seconds!
I designed all our own stationary, and we printed it wherever was closest and cheapest at the time.
We took dance lessons for our first dance- Partly because we wanted something special, but also because it was like a date night every time we had rehearsals. We had a choreographed first dance, and we had a DJ playing background music, since we had a day wedding.
