One of the highlights of my wedding was getting dressed into my wedding dress. I absolutely love my wedding dress and I felt so beautiful wearing it. Having our family and friends with us, sharing the special day was also a highlight on the day.
My most memorable moment was when the chapel doors opened and I saw my "husband to be" face and the emotion in his eyes, I will never forget this special and emotional moment we shared.
Yes we did! We went to Thailand. We had the best time together!!
My wedding look had a classic, romantic feel to it. Very "fancy" (giggles). People hardly ever get the time to dress up these days and be all "fancy". We had a red carpet that followed up the stairs, men dropped the woman off in front of the venue before parking their cars. Doors were opened by the staff who looked very dapper in their black pants, white shirts and black bow ties. It was a real "oscar" like feel.
I had my make up done by my best friend (also a bridesmaid). I got my jewelry from Lovisa as well as my hair piece. They have really nice jewelry. I wore white lace underwear, my garter you will note in the gallery; had a blue velvet bow on (this was my something blue).
My wedding ring is a blue sapphire stone with diamonds, a Diana look a like.
We got married at Monte de Dios, Zwavelpoort in Pretoria. It was the first venue we viewed and decided that it is the one! Some of our guest stayed over on the night of our wedding at the venue.
My bridesmaids and I stayed over the night before our wedding, we had a delicious dinner and got a good nights sleep before our big day.
As we all know flowers are very expensive, I initially decided to go with white roses only but after receiving a quote I decided to go against it. I did not have a lot of flowers as my center piece but it still had a romantic feel with the ivy leave wrapped around the candle stand. The candles made it feel warm, welcoming, classic and romantic. The linen, crockery, under plates and candle stands I hired from the venue. All the glass items I bought from Mr Price Home and even PEP as well (giggles).
I am not a big fan of the colored lights and smoke machines. We had a lot of candles which we rented and that made the venue light up a bit, it is quite a dark venue but with all the candles it looked beautiful.
The groom and groomsmen wore black suits with white shirts and black bow ties. We had a black tie themed wedding. We hired all the suits from Black Tie in Brooklyn, Pretoria. The groom wore a black velvet bow tie which we got from Woolworths.
My bridesmaids all wore black dresses but each dress was different style and material, that suited their personalities. I bought the dresses from YDE and the bridesmaids dress was bought from a boutique in Brooklyn. I bought them each a pair of earrings which also suited their personalities best from Lovisa.
Yes we had a coordinator who assisted us with all the arrangements at the venue, she also gave us such amazing ideas and was very helpful.
Our ceremony and our reception were both held at the venue, we did not make use of transport.
Our food was prepared by the venues chef. We had a 3 course plated menu and the food was delicious! Our cake was made by Elze Room, she is the head chef from Tashas and made it for us as a gift. It was absolutely stunning and so delicious!
I designed and printed my own stationary, I wanted to do as much as I could myself. It is so nice to be so involved with your own planning. I really enjoyed it and I could make and change it as much as I wanted until I was 100% happy.
We did not take any dance lessons. We had an artist who preformed at our wedding, while the wedding party was taking photos he preformed (Roan van As) and the guest had drinks under the trees where we set up cocktail tables and chairs. He also preformed our first dance song. We had a DJ for the rest of the evening from DJ Kings.
