The best day of our lives! Had lots of fun with the people in our lives!
At a friends house on a Friday night "Braai"! We started to chat and that is how it started.
My husband Gerrie told me that one of his reps at work gave him a weekend away prize in Jeffries Bay because of the good selling of their product in the shop. I was so excited. So we went to Jeffries Bay the Saturday morning. We booked in at a very nice guesthouse and went shopping! The evening we went for a nice dinner. When we returned to the guesthouse there were flowers, chocolates and champange on the bed and Gerrie told me it is a pre Valentines gift because valentines day was on the Sunday! I said that is so nice of the guesthouse! When I turned my back to put down my handbag, Gerrie went on his knee and ask me will I marry him... I was so excited I even asked him twice are you sure you are asking me it fell so unreal, but so excited!! I think that evening I slept with a smile on my face!! The next morning I was a soon to be bride! Very happy!
The morning of the wedding my mom and dad brought me a biltong and cheese toast in my own bed in my "groot word huis". The smile on Gerrie's face when I entered the church. The next super awesome thing was when my best friend pulled out their tractors on their farm for some wedding photo's!
Yes! We went to Partenoster, Hout bay, Cape Town and Mosselbay! From wine tasting to beer tasting! South Africa has an unique beauty of it's own. No better place to take your honeymoon in Sunny South Africa!
I have always been diffrent and that is way my dress was diffrent from the traditional white dress. I loved my dress especially all the diffrent layers! My dress was made by my sister- in-law Rita. She also made the flower girls dresses! My hair was down with curls in it. I only got the shoes 3 weeks before the wedding when for the last time looking... third time lucky! My shoes were flat with beautiful beats on the top. My jewelry, I bought a special watch for my wedding in the colours of the wedding (a blue and green watch) but Gerrie send me a beautiful watch the morning of the wedding. So instead I went with Gerrie's watch. My earrings and my bracelet were my grandma's and it was so special to wear them.
We got married in Wolmaransstad in the North West province. It is the town where I grew up and where my parents and granny stayed. Most of the guests stayed over at local B&B's and geusthouses.
I haven't had any treatments. Except that my 1 tooth broke a week before the wedding! I just went on doing my regular afternoon jog on a regular basis.
Most of the décor was hand made. My bridesmaids and I folded the paper flowers for the tables and they were in winebottels. The children at school made the placemats. I bought blue and green paper lanterns and pasted african continents on it to give it a world globe effect. Then we used a lot of fairy lights in the lanterns and across the hall to give some light.
Gerrie had a navy blue suite with a withe butted shirt and green and blue tie with tan brown shoes. The groomsmen: white and blue check butted shirt with blue chino's, blue ties, brown shoes and suspenders.
I bought them royal blue wrap dresses, with blue and green watches and aeroplane earrings. I told them they can wear any shoes, any hair style. They only need to wear their watches and earrings!
Ds. Riaan Jonker. He was also a class friend from our school years in Wolmaransstad.
Elthea van Wyk took our beautiful wedding photo's. The nice thing of Elthea was that when we want take a photo in any way she did it. She was happy taking it even if it may look how silly or strange. Johan Jacobs made us a dvd of the wedding and of the reception. It is so nice to watch it after the wedding!
My mother was my planner she had to arranged every thing in my hometown, because I live in Cradock in the Eastern Cape. What would we do without a mothers care and help!
My dad organized a sport Mercedes car for the wedding.
Our theme for the wedding was a "pilot wedding". We saw many ideas on pintrest. And so Gerrie and I designed and made the wedding passport (wedding invatations) ourselfs. We bought the cardboard and other accessories and made it from scratch. We also made the save the date.
Yes Gerrie and I went for some dance lessons (I have 2 left feet haha). We had a DJ and they also made the lighting for the dancing.
