When we got engaged on December 24th 2015 on Hartenbos beach we knew that we didn't want to get married right away. Once we started to look around at wedding venue we thought - Why not take it back to where it all started? As we left the umpteenth venue we decided that we will get married by the sea. In September we went down to Hartenbos, set a date for April 22nd 2017 and confirmed our venue.
We decided not to get married ON the beach since it's all 4 seasons in one day kind of weather. Our venue was perfect for our nautical theme, situated alongside the lagoon and with the ocean in the background. PERFECT!
We arranged everything from Pretoria and we couldn't have asked for better suppliers. They delivered awesome service, I had no problems with any of them, they went over and beyond the call of duty and they were so much more affordable than suppliers in Gauteng - a real fact.
The weather on the day wasn't very pleasant - but that was all that went "wrong" on the day. It was cold and windy, with barely any son and I wasn't prepared for the cold but I stuck through it.
On the day I had no flower girls, no maid of honor or bridesmaid. It was just my mom and I. My friend of 18 years wasn't able to make it but her mom was there to add a helping hand until her daughter walked into my room just when I was about to put my dress on. This was one of the BIGGEST highlights of the day and I felt so much more at ease having someone so special by my side.
The message the pastor gave that day was a perfect mach for us. He had us intertwine 3 chords where the white represents the wife, blue represents the husband and the silver represents God. These are the building blocks of a marriage with God as the center.
Our day turned out perfect. Absolutely nothing went wrong, everything worked out according to plan and the food was great!
