After almost 7 years together, we finally had our wedding day.
The story started many years ago when we were all young and innocent. After many years of friendship, we decided after a summer holiday we were going to give our love story a go. I packed up my life in Cape Town and moved to Johannesburg. After 2 years together we had our son in 2012, followed by our daughter in 2015. When we got to 2016, after been engaged for a good 3 years I gave Ruan the option of 3 dates and told Ruan to pick one, dates were limited to a long weekend as family had to travel.
And here we sit.
I will never forget the day. We had just gotten settled in own flat after relocating to Cape Town. I was working night at EJ"s Entertainment Lounge in Strand. As I was getting ready for work Ruan asked me if I wanted to go to work very very happy, so I said of course thinking he was going to tell me he had a babysitter and he was going to come with me. Mean while back at the ranch, he asked me to marry him.
It was out of the blue. I had shown him a ring that I wanted, I didn't even know he bought it until he proposed.
Highlights was definitely spending a really girly day getting pampered, make up and feeling like a rockstar with the camera crew following us around.
The most memorable moment of the day was seeing Ruan waiting for me at the end of the aisle.
We haven't had a honeymoon yet due to work commitment, so we are waiting for December and we are just going to roadtrip it down to Cape Town for a Family Vacation.
I wanted a very classic, chique look for the wedding. I am not a person for heavy make up and jewelry. My make up artist nailed it perfectly with what I wanted. My hair was done by a friend who has been doing my hair for a very long while. My original wedding dress that my mom purchased did not fit, so we found a boutique that was willing to swap my dress out for another one. My shoes were my something borrowed and belonged to sister-in-law.
We got married at Marleius Saal in Pomona, Kempton Park.
We had the guests that came up from Cape Town between a guest house and at our house.
Leading up to the wedding I started with bootcamp in order to tone and make sure I look my best.
I had a strict cleansing regime for my skin the last week before the wedding as I have rather oily skin.
We kept our decor very simple the understated table setting with a center piece for each table. Our reception venue and wedding venue was in one place in order to eliminate travelling.
Only myself and my bridesmaid had flowers and kept table decor to candles.
The groom said that he didn't want suits for him and the groomsman. The groom had a waistcoat wit hhis tie and the 2 groomsman had 'kruis bande' and a tie.
The bridesmaids had Infinity dresses that they tied in their own style, so that they still had a uniform color but still what suited them.

No I did all my planning myself with the help of my Bridesmaids and my Mother-In-Law
My wedding car was a choice of 2 from my boss. It was decided on the day which one i would have for sure as the one was still in for repairs.
I had a white BMW X3 and my bridesmaids were driven in a Vintage VW Beetle
All our catering was supplied with the venue.
My cake was made by Cakes by Tasha based in Boksburg
I did all my stationary myself from designing the invites to the printing of the thank yous etc.
We did not get the opportunity to take dance lessons. The lighting was supplied by the venue and we had a DJ for the night.
