The day we have been waiting for have arrived on the 1st of April 2017. Our wedding date had quite a few freinds & family in stiches ;) Everyone wanted to know how we came to decide on this date. Well, the long and short of it, since we had the wedding on the family farm outside in the garden, this time of the year in the Karoo is the best possibility for great weather :) And it was the loveliest day we could have wanted!! Family & friends joined and helped with all that was to do to make it the best day we dreamed of. All our wedding service providers was locally sourced from Middelburg, Eastern Cape which made it even more special since the community in Middelburg is well known for always being prepared to help and supporting each other. We got married in the small Anglican Church on the farm. Traditional "boerekos" was prepared & served, from "roosterkoek" to sheep spit on the coals.
We danced the night away on an clay surfaced makeshift dancing floor....
The story of my wedding dress is quite unique. My dress was made from my mother in-law's 40 year old wedding dress. A complete new dress was made from the old. It was such an special sentiment between mother and daughter in law. Our wedding cake was also a family affair :) Mother in law made the cake and an family member decorated it! And it was stunning! Most of the decor I made myself, my colour scheme with greens & browns was a perfect fit for our outdoor wedding under the Karoo sky. Family & friends came from near & far to celebrate the day with us.

The weekend 13th of February 2016 i went to visit Pannell for a long weekend on the farm. Since we have been dating this would be our first Valentyne's weekend celebration together. However, on the 13th Pannell planned that we spend the day on the farm, since the 14th he have planned for us to spend the day with close friends of ours to celebrate the day. As a couple we are not too fussed about Valentyne's day, so this day planned on the 14th was not suspicious to me at all! So we went on a nice long walk to one of the hill tops on the farm. We packed a backpack with sjampange and on the hill he asked me to marry him with the sheep & cattle as our audeniece :) Of course i said yes!! I was so shocked i had to ask him if i actually said yes :) I had no idea he would ask me! I imagined the proposal to only happen in the next 2 following years...Needless to say it was a lovely day with family and friends celebrating it with us. .
