When I started looking at wedding dresses I knew I wanted a Pronovia dress, as their dresses are elegant and feminine (just my kind of style). With my first fitting at De La Vida Santon, my stylist (Casandra) were just amazing. She summed me up correctly from the start and the first dress she chose for me was my wedding dress. I went for a two-toned dress as I am a person that likes to do things differently. My dress consisted of two types of lace, one fine and the other rougher. I wanted the Diana long fail which also consisted of the rough lace on my dress. My dress was altered to perfection by Sew Couture to nip and tuck my body in the right places.
I wanted to do something plain but classy with my hair because I didn't want to take any focus away from my dress. When choosing a hair dresses there was no one else I wanted to do my hair then my year-long Hair Dresser Theresa Bester from T&Co. Because she knew my style and hair we decided on a classic French Roll which also worked perfectly with my hair clip (also from Pronovias).
I was honored to have had the best Make-Up artist in the country. Sam Scarborough made me feel and look like a magazine cover model. She made my skin flawless and used the right colors (browns and golds) on my eyes to stand out. She is not only an amazing Make-Up artist but a great person as well and made everyone feel at ease while getting ready in the Bridal Room.
For my shoes, I wanted something elegant but also comfortable. I loved Benjamin Adams London's shoe collection and the best place to get them was from Christiaan Michael. He immediately made me feel at home in his beautiful shop. What a dream it was to pick out my Cinderella shoes for my special day.
As a bride, I Pinterest and Instagrammed a lot of my idea's. So it's quite irritating to see something and can't find it in South Africa. That was the case with my garter. I didn't just want the old fashioned silk with a blue ribbon garter. As I love lace I loved the fine and dainty lace garters you normally see on Pinterest. Luckily I came across a Bridal Boutique (Loca Bridal) in Port Elizabeth with the most beautiful garters I have ever seen. Their service and professionalism were just amazing.
We got Married at the Lovely Memoire Wedding Venue in Mulderdrift. Memoire has some rooms available for guest, so most of our guests stayed over at the venue.
Before the wedding, I went every month a year in advance for an Obagi Peel and Facial at Primavera Skin and Laser Clinic to get my lovely Bridal Glow. Liezel Greef (Owner and Somatologist) truly went out of her way to get my skin wedding ready.
My beautiful Nails and Toe Nails was done by the lovely ladies at Tammy Taylor Nails Boksburg. We did a classic faded french on both. They truly made me feel like a Queen on the day and my Nails looked lovely for 4 weeks after the wedding, talk about value for money.
I didn't want to be one of those brides which wanted her bridesmaids to look and feel ugly on her wedding day just so she can stand out. They are a huge blessing on the day and needs to feel and look gorgeous.
We bought their dresses and shoes from Forever New. The reason we chose this particular dresses was because it was long in the back but was short enough in the front to move. The lace detail at the neckline complemented my lace on my dress and the waterfall layered materiaal at the front was something unique and different.
For their hair we didnt want to take away the focus of the dresses beacutiful neckline and went for a simple pony and jazzed it a bit up with a french braid.
My bridesmaids (Genee, Shandi and Nerina) looked stunning and complimented their inner and outer beauty!
When I started googling Photographers I came across Christiaan David. I just fell in love with his style of photos and knew immediately that he was going to be our Photographer. But I still believed that we had to meet him and we as a couple needed to connect with him (because if you don't connect with your photographer how can your photos came out spectacular). After we met him we didn't meet anyone else he was just our first and last pick. He made us feel at ease in front of the camera and kept us calm throughout the whole day. His personality just compliments any wedding and wedding party. His professionalism and experience come forward in the little things he does, like to tell you to please go to the bathroom before you put on your very narrow dress (believe me I was very thankful for that because I couldn't go to the bathroom for the rest of the night). Christiaan David is a brilliant photographer and it shows in his photos.
My niece actually sends me a link one day with one of Mighty Fines video's and I just loved it. The quality of their short film was just noticeable. Even now after the wedding seeing our video we looked at it and asked how did they film this, we didn't know they were standing there. They videographers on the day were really like two flies sitting on a wall and capturing everything which we have already forgotten. They captured every little detail of our special day.
