Every moment was memorable and the whole day was the highlight - but more than the rest probably seeing my groom wait for me at the altar while walking down the isle!
We had a lovely local honeymoon based in Hartenbos, and we did a roadtrip each day to a different town (knysna, oudshoorn, Prince Albert, Ladismith, Van Wyksdorp, herbertsdale) which we both love doing - we got to spend peaceful quality time together and bask in the happiness of our wedding day!
My wedding dress: Viola Chan A-Line beaded lace gown with beaded illusion neckline.
It was the 2nd of about 20 dresses I tried on at 3 different boutiques, and I knew that would be the one (which was my mother's favorite from the start too)!
Hair and makeup: I wanted low-key and natural, and opted for loose curls to the side, with light makeup.
Jewelry: Crystal drop-earrings, crystal bracelet.
Shoes: Golden midi peeptoe heels with diamond edging
We got married at Rondekuil Estate just outside Durbanville Hills.
I was lucky enough to stay the night before the wedding with my bridesmaid, and the wedding night a few guests stayed over as well, that just added to the special intimate feeling of our wedding.
I am a plain Jane - no special regime for the wedding. Just drank a lot of water to stay hydrated.
Decor: 5-arm Crystal chandeliers on each table, with silver round bowls, crystal flower bowls and small candlesticks placed on a mirror to reflect as much light possible.
Flowers: This was a diy wedding, so I went to suppliers for Roses, greenery, proteas and a mixture of flowers which we arranged ourselves with the help of a friend.
My handsome groom wore a beige suit with white shirt, as did his best man.
My gorgeous bridesmaid Nadia wore a brown illusion neck-line maxi dress with lace detail.
Our marriage officer is Johan Wessels, who happens to be our neighbour! Most kind hearted, sincere gentleman and we couldn't have chosen someone more fitting to officiate our wedding
No, I wanted to do everything myself - and had the assistance of my wonderful aunt Anita, mom Sonja, mother-in-law Rika, sisters-in-law Nadia and Surina. It was so special to have them all involved.
Because I stayed over at the venue, we did things a little different with my groom arriving in the wedding car - a 1959 VW Combi - powder blue. This is our favourite car and was so special to use it in our pictures!
Rondekuil Estate did the delicious catering and we could pick from a wide range menus.
My sister-in-law was in charge of the wedding cake - Turkish delight tall tier cake with rose-flavoured icing and soft pink flowers as decoration, and for the guests Turkish delight flavoured cupcakes. It was absolutely divine!
I created the stationery and invites myself -took a lot of trial and error but I was very happy with everything at the end
We took one dance lesson - after the ceremony for 3 minutes!
We made use of a DJ - James Marais, he does the sound and lighting too. The music was just perfect for us and James had everyone on the dancefloor all night long!
