From the moment we went to view Lythwood Lodge, we fell in love. The running water down the staircase and onto a platform surrounded by water, rolling hills and cattle in the background, it was by far a wedding venue I had ever dreamt of.
Our day was the most relaxed and so enjoyable. My groom Jason had been so emotional right from the beginning. He left our entire wedding ceremony in tears, when he went down on one knee and gave my daughter, Skyler a promise ring that he will always be there for her no matter what. It was a moment that made me realise while standing, there I have been blessed with the most amazing man to have by my side for the rest of my life and to accept my daughter as his own.
We had family from all over the world, come and witness our marriage. It was a beautiful hot sunny day and our entire day flowed so freely and we enjoyed every moment shared with all our family and friends from afar. Our photo shoot in the whimsical forest was by far such a sight to capture our photos in. From our decor team, to the delicious food, awesome DJ who kept us going, everything planned out exactly how we wanted.
It is a day we will cherish for the rest of our lives and be able to show our kids one day what love is all about.
The moment my husband to be Jason gave my daughter a promise ring that even though he is not her dad by blood he would always uphold the father role & be the best dad he could possibly be.
Yes, we went on a BUDDYMOON with all our friends to Mauritius. It was so much fun having them all with us.
Our wedding look was based on both our likes. My husband loved the wood & forest feel and I was more the elegant feel so we combined them together and made our perfect fairytale. Me being a hairstylist myself I wanted something flowy and elegant at the same time. So that's why I went for a pretty braid along with lose curls. My makeup was done by my very own sister who is a make up artist so I trusted her to make me feel amazing on the wedding day.
We made a weekend out of our wedding. The groom and all his men stayed at Gowrie Farm & played golf and had there men time. Myself & all my bridesmaids stayed at our wedding venue, Lythwood Lodge in the Midlands. We arrived on the Thursday to relax & take it all in. On the Friday night we had a "build your own burger" evening with all our close friends & family. It was the best thing we could've done to spend time with family who travelled afar.
Nothing major as I have my own skin routine set so I just added in the HI SMILE teeth whitening.
We used Esme from Midlands Style Events. She was absolutely amazing, friendly and full of laughter and honestly help us create all our wedding decor into a fairytale. We hired the instabooth for the evening for all our guests and it added so much laughter and fun to our evening.
The groomsmen & groom got their suits from River Island and we mixed the grey&navy to give it an effect. I loved there look.
I love lace and found an image on pinterest which inspired me. I then used my seamstress who created my image into my girls dresses and they were stunning.
My photographer was Tanya Doveton and I was so privelaged to have her as we were her last wedding in South Africa as she immigrated to California shortly after our wedding. Her photography was put of this world, the images were soft and elegant. We used James Peters for our videography and he captured all our special moments, speeches, canapés etc
No we did it all on our own and the manager at Lythwood Lodge helped us on the day with superb assistance throughout the day.
Our food was included in the package & was all made at the venue a d was delicious. Our cake was made by Sharon's cakes in the Midlands. We had a tasting and told her exactly what we wanted, showed her a picture and it was created exactly like our image and tasted amazing. We had 1 layer vanilla, 1 layer carrot cake as we both love it and 1 layer chocolate mousse.
I designed all our stationery and table seating and got it printed at star stationery in Durban.
So we most definitely went for dance lessons as we both had no idea what to do for our 1st dance. But when it came to the actual dance your mind is on cloud nine and you don't always remember the moves haha. We hired a DJ and used Michael Zuma who was just absolutely brilliant. We had no cut off time and he played right up until the last person left around 3am it was magical.
