Walking down the aisle was spectacular - to see MY husband standing infront of me, knowing that we will be together forever made my heart skip a few beats. We had the best MC! He cracked jokes and insured that everyone was entertained during the evening; he also made my grandmothers the centre of attention which was extremely special! We had a dinner party the day before the wedding which only ended at 03:30 (the day of the wedding) which made it extra special as it felt as if we had two weddings on one weekend.
Yes, we went to Sun City for two days and then left for Mauritius for a week.
Our wedding had a vintage, antique, old-school feel and was held on a farm just outside Potchefstroom. Uniqueness attracts me and therefore I chose to have a wedding dress with ostrich feathers. Marius de Jager designed my dress and ensured that it had enough bling and the feathers which ensured that it would be one of a kind. I chose to pair my dress with a pair of one of a kind Jimmy Choo shoes with a tassle and rhinestones. My jewelry was simple; only a pair of earrings. I love accentuating my dark eyes by having smokey make up with dark brows. An up style hairdo is what I chose for the warm weather that time of the year.
We got married at Makojalo Opstal just outside Potchefstroom in the North-West. Our close family and friends stayed at the venue (inside old horse stalls and classy tents) and the rest in nearby guest houses.
Being a very easy going person I did not really focus on changing my lifestyle. I continued with my daily routines and with work keeping me busy there was no time for extra pampering.
Our décor was simple; vintage and antique is what we went for. We had two long tables which had a few single proteas and fynbos on them and we used old kitchen scales, old tins etc to place the flowers in. We made use of an entrepreneur who makes art with wires and beads who then made every guest a sheep which we used as table placings.
My groom wore a navy blue suit from Polo. He paired his suit with a brown belt from Kingsley Heath and a leather tie with our initials in from Theron&Theron. His brown vellies are from a stall in Hartenbos (our favourite holiday destination). His groomsmen wore chinos with navy buttoned shirts with small polka dot print on them. They wore leather bow ties which is also from Theron&Theron.
I chose to get every bridesmaid a dress that suits her style, body and personality. The only criteria for each one of my 5 bridesmaids was to have a long navy dress. I got their dresses from YDE, Bruma and Pebbles in Mosselbay.
Pastor Louis Holtzhausen from CRC Potchefstroom.
August Photography captured all of the special moments. They are the cutest couple and inspired us to love each other even more. They included a night shoot as well as photo booth in our package.
No, I did everything myself; as I mentioned, I am very easy going and calm
We did not use wedding transport as everything was right next to each other. We used our Jesus wheels ;)
Mariaan Breedt made our food (which was delicious!!!). The wedding cake was made by n Potchefstroom local
Me! Hubby made the electronic invites and I made the Stationary.
We made use of The Simpsons DJ’s. They did not play the correct version of our wedding song, but with both of us being students at the NWU Potch we could luckily wing the dance! The party was amazing - the best wedding I have attended... everyone danced and laughed and had a great time. Two of our guests even took a dip in their underpants in the fish pond at 2am. When the venue closed we all went to the boma area and continued with the party their. At 3:45 when we left, half of the guests where still at it!
