We met on a sokkie dance floor in Stillbay when Riaan asked me for a dance. We both originally were not going to be there, but fate brought us there with our friend groups. Riaan saw me first and then when he asked me to dance I got butterflies in my tummy. We enjoyed each other's company so much that we ended up chatting and getting to know one another the rest of the evening. He was first attracted to my smile and laugh. I was attracted to his confidence and "mad" dancing skills. After we started getting to know each other better our feeling for each other grew deeper and gained a whole other dimension.
I would love to say that I did that, but I just kept the same lifestyle that I always do. I generally eat healthily. I do try to stay active, but I do still enjoy myself. weeks before and days before the wedding I was still eating burgers and high tea cakes! which I hear is taboo. Anyway, I did whiten my teeth at the lifestyle center in Paarl. I wish I did do spa treatments, but my new husband and I did get spoilt the day after the wedding.
The venue itself is a shabby chic and still had original parts of the barn such as the rustic walls and logs in the ceiling. Pippa Sharp from Wildeflower (0726202828) did our wedding decor and flowers. It was absolutely breathtaking and magical. She really outdid all my expectations! We had luscious green hanging installations consisting of olive branches and pennygum and all sorts of other greenery. Then we had wooden tables and ghost chairs with long runners of white and light blue flowers with eccevarias too. Pippa found the most amazing different flowers that I had never even seen before. We had chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. and candles in cut glass holders reflecting light. Outside there was a bonfire and couches with fairy lights and white bunting dangling from the skies. It was even better than the wedding in my dreams! So grateful
My husband got his suit from woolies in the Studio W section. He got Arther Jack shoes from Trend and Miller, which were very comfortable for dancing. This was crucial! His groomsmen wore the same Studio W pants as Riaan and a white shirt. The wedding day was very very hot! The groomsmens also wore boutonnieres.
My beautiful ladies wore different shades of light blue chiffon long dresses. There was a short boob tube underneath the chiffon and the chiffon made a wide halter neck from the waist line up and flowing material down to their shoe line. They also wore olive leaves as crowns on their heads and looked like greek goddesses! I got my idea from a dress that I have that I just love wearing and I decided on the olive leaves from the green olive theme I was using as a base throughout the wedding and the resemble it has for peace and grace.
Dewald De Kok from Stellenbosch Gemeente.
We had the most amazing photographer and videographer that are so passionate about their jobs and are just so easy to get along with! Christine Le Roux photography and Casper De Vries from Lemonsquare productions. They just captured the moments without us even noticing and making it awkward. We met with both of them before the wedding and had the privilege of having an engagement shoot too. So we were very comfortable and familiar with them.
The venue supplied a wedding coordinator for the day. Who was very good and kept everything on schedule except if she though the mood would be broken. She even ran like lightning to fetch my bouquet just before a walked down the isle when I forgot them! haha
Both bride and groomsmen got ready on the venue in different houses and our honeymoon suit was also on the venue. The wedding ceremony, pre-drinks and reception were on the same premise, so there was no need for transport. It would have looked strange if there was for 5m.
Red Pepper catering who were absolutely amazing I seriously wanted to go for 3rds!!! Our wedding cake was made by the birdcage teabar in stellenbosch. The cake was so delicious that Riaan and I almost didn't even get any!
Michelle Eksteen from fender design. I wrote all the name tags to be placed on the wedding favours, that were also our table placements.
We had an awesome party! Lots of sokkie and dancing! Because this is a huge part of how we met and we just love dancing! We had Dee-Jays from Paarl.
