We met at another du Toit wedding -
Hein (my husband's brother) and Nicole (my friend) got married on 14 November 2014, I was a bridesmaid and my (now) husband one of the bestmen/ groomsmen. The first dance we assisted in opening the proverbial "floor".
We happened to bump into one another time after time but never had the opportunity for more. We had our first date and have been inseparable since...
We were on our way to my sister's house for a casual (therefore the ripped jeans I was sporting in our engagement photo's) braai at my sister's house one random Friday evening. Marais mentions that we are going to pop in at our friends Andre and Lezanne's house for a drink on the way.
We arrive and everything seems pretty normal/ standard and another one of our friends, Jeanelle (photographer by profession) is "teaching Lezanne how to use her camera as Lezanne was to attend a wedding the next day and had to take pictures" standing in the background testing the light.
Marais points out the gorgeous sunset. As I turn around to walk back to where we were seated, he goes down on one knee. And asks the magical question. Jeanelle in perfect view to capture this moment, the other two popping bottles of Moet and running around with red roses. I was is such awe, I couldn't close my mouth or put my drink down. I am hardly ever taken by surprise so it really did knock me off my feet and I will remember that moment until my last breath.
We spent our honeymoon road tripping Knysna and surrounds. It was absolutely perfect and so special. I have an intense love for animals so he thought it special to have me experience as much animal related activities while celebrating our union. I had never been around elephants, so to be able to get up so close and personal was a rather emotional experience for me (cheesy I know).
My wedding look was built around being soft and natural. Champagne and blush were my colours and we added touches of lace and soft pinks inbetween. I'd say I really am a bit of a plain Jayne. I had a really soft lace mermaid dress with a low back and tons of layers of tule at the bottom. To me - it is what a fairytale dress should look like. It was designed and made by Ricci JvR (Janse van Rensburg). She started off as a designer and I now am lucky enough to have her as a friend. My make up was done by Marnel Toerien; we went for a natural look with a touch of a smoky eye and a light shimmering liner. hair was curled and taken up but I soon took the grips out and left it to hang naturally/ as it wanted and am so happy that it actually looked good for the pictures. http://www.riccijvr.com/
We got married and stayed over at Morgansvlei in Tulbagh. We were lucky enough to have space for family and of the guests stay over there too (and some at surrounding wine farms). We got together for a quick breakfast the morning after before leaving for the treehouses of Knysna.
I wish I could provide you with some sort of schedule or regime, but I unfortunately can't. We bought our first house in August 2016 (wedding was March 2017) and had a trip to visit family in Germany and in between we were wedding planning and setting up house. I washed my face with my usual Woolworths earth friendly range, did my usual weight training where I could. My husband did treat Nicole and I to a Mangwanani spa night though which was in the Winelands which consisted of dinner, drinks, full body hot stone massage, head and shoulder massage and leg and foot massage.
Our colour scheme was champagne and blush (and soft pinks). Our flowers were ivory and soft pink roses, touches of baby's breath and a few I don't know the actual names of. The girls and I made big hula hoop chandeliers of sort; we sprayed the hoops copper and tied various sized glass balls to the hoops which we added battery operated tealight candles to the day before the wedding. We had our names printed (almost as tall as we are) and had it displayed alongside the dam facing our venue. Lighting was soft (nothing bright/ over the top) and lawn furniture white/ raw wood.
Groom wore a navy suit with a crisp cotton white collar shirt (gorgeous!) and groomsmen wore charcoal/ black.
My bridesmaid wore dresses made by Ricci (Ricci JvR) which we designed together by using pictures I got off of Pinterest and Google and used the components from various to get the perfect look. They wore light blush sequenced top part with a more sparkly blush neckline and really soft flowy material from the waist down. It is equally beautiful as romantic.

No, I had no wedding coordinator.
One of our friends Janu, picked me up in his Range Rover Sport (the road leading to the venue was gravel) and Jakes's pride and joy Audi R8 featured in our photo's (as attached)
All food was by Mariancka Norden's company, Le Chandeleur. My sister had the cake made.
It was spectacular, we had so much fun on the dance floor! We love dancing so no lessons needed. Music and lighting by DJ Dean.
Being a part of your celebration in some small way makes my work so much more rewarding.
