From the moment we first met through mutual friends, we were attracted to each other. We were friends for a few months before we realised that we did not want to waste any more time and we have, literally, been together ever since.
I had been hinting in the direction of us getting engaged for a while, but he managed to keep me completely in the dark. I was off sick when he suggested we go to a game reserve for me to completely relax and thus get better sooner. Sitting in the jacuzzi, I mentioned that it was so romantic under the stars. Finally my man took the hint and got down on one knee and asked the question every girl dreams of hearing from the man she loved. Obviously I said yes!!
There are so many highlights from our special day, from all our friends and family travelling from as far as New Zealand, dancing under the stars, all the excitement around getting ready on the day, etc. The most memorable would have to be finally saying I do and of course hubby shedding a tear as we shared our first dance.
We have not gone on honeymoon yet, but are going to Phuket, Thailand soon... Watch this space!
As soon as I tried my wedding dress on at VIP Brides in Hillcrest, Durban I knew that I had found the perfect dress for me. So simple yet elegent. It is an ivory Belle's of Hilton dress, with cross-bands in the front and covered with beautiful lace. I wanted to be as natural possible, as I am a very down to earth person and wanted the look to reflect me as accurately possible. My hair and makeup was done by beautiful cousins Soné and Elmien. As I had a foot operation I opted for comfortable wedding shoes - I found Zellie's which did just that. All the jewellery I wore on my wedding day was given to me by my hubby - making it even more special. On our wedding day he gave me a nomination bracelet with our wedding rings on - so special.
We were lucky to find one of the biggest gems in KZN - The House in Zululand, situated in quiet Eshowe, in the middle of nowhere.
Grooming started months before the wedding. We had to watch our weight, do some exercise, I went for countless spa and beauty treatments, hair trials, etc in order to get ready for the big day.
Nadine of Funky Functionz did such an amazing job on the decor! We decided to again keep things simple and elegent. The venue was draped in fairy lights. The flowers were different shades of white, in glass vases. There were also some wooden elements on the tables, which looked absolutely stunning.
André got left on his own here - hehe. He wore brown pants and a white shirt, and had a brown wastecoat tailored in Umhlanga in Durban. At the last minute he added a brownish gold tie to the outfit.
He opted for a more vintage look for his groomsmen, they wore different coloured brown pants with white shirts, with different accessories such as caps, suspenders, bowties, etc.
My bridesmaids wore infinity dresses. Each could choose which style they preferred and were comfortable in, showcasing each ones' unique style. They did their own hair and their makeup was professionally done. Because I am a very laid back person, they chose their own accessories to wear.

Our photographer Rudi Stadler of DarkWhite Photography, came highly recommended. He is a true artist with a great photographical eye.
We decided against having a photo booth, as we didn't want wedding guests to spend the whole night waiting to take photos, but to rather spend this precious time with us.
Our wedding planner was Nadine Pinto of Funky Functionz. I do not know how we would have done it without her!
We decided against taking dancing lessons, as we wanted our wedding day to be natural. We had a very romantic first dance, gazing into each other's eyes and whispering about the fantastic day. The light and sound was all done by the DJ we hired, who also provided live entertainment later the night. The party was awesome - everyone had such a blast, especially boogying it out on the dancefloor!
