Our wedding was held at the most beautiful venue in Johannesburg, Shepstone Gardens on the 19th of February 2017.
We had a vintage french theme, which included our macaroon tower and a croquembouche. We were truly blessed as it was a rainy week and Shepstone Gardens is a garden venue, and on the Sunday of the wedding the skies cleared and the sun was shining the entire day despite the gloomy weather forecast. I wore a beautiful mermaid french lace gown from Eurobride and my groom looked impeccable in he's navy blue Zara Man suit.
My bridesmaids looked absolutely beautiful in their tulle skirts and white lace body suits, while the groomsmen were dashing in their light grey suits. The soft colours stood out beautifully in the gardens, and complemented my white dress and my goom's navy suit.
The vibe of the wedding was very romantic, with a string quartet playing classical music while the guests wondered around the gardens. I wanted to make sure that my guests did not feel trapped in a hall and thus the open feel of the venue allowed my guests to wonder around and enjoy the sunshine.
The guests were seated in a glass marquee in a "Harry Potter" styled seating, and thus my guests were able to mingle with each other, and meet the new family. I served a roast leg of lamb with a medley of vegetables as well as chicken briyaani.
The evening ended with my husband and I dancing under the fairy lights to 'Rest of My Life' by Bruno Mars. Additionally a Muslim/Malay tradition, I was escorted around the room to greet my family and my parents, while my family sang in Arabic.
It was an absolutely beautiful day!
