2010 was not only a year South Africa celebrated the Soccer World Cup, it was the year I met the love of my life. As cliché as it may sound, Robin and I met and fell inlove from the moment we said "hello"... We had been set up on a blind date by his aunt who felt we "were meant for each other" and on one cold winter's night, 4 June 2010, we decided to meet for coffee. Robin insisted on fetching me as he wanted my parents to meet the man I was going out with for the evening. Little did we know, that what was supposed to be a quick coffee, ended up being a six and a half year year courtship of many beautiful memories and a love that has grown deeper with every passing moment. Life truly has an amazing way of working out. We may have "met" as strangers but our lives prior to us meeting had prepared us a lifetime of love and blessings.
December, 1st 2016 started as a normal Thursday of work, clients and the usual morning greetings and text messages. Robin called me during the day to request a date night seeing we'd been so busy the last while and thought we needed some time out for each other. I didn't suspect anything unusual, as this is the type of thing my then boyfriend would do. He had recently bought a house and the many trips to check up on the progress hadn't surprised me so when he suggested we take a drive to the house, I considered this to be another trip to check up on how things had progressed. As we entered the home, I heard soft music coming from the room upstairs and suspected we may have visitors that we didn't expect... as I walked up the stairs to the main bedroom where now it had become apparent the "noise" was coming from the room, I opened the closed door to an array of rose petals on the floor, pictures of our journey across the room wall and flowers with a picnic blanket on the room floor. He popped the champagne and told me to look at the flowers- inside the bouquet/ vase was an envelope addressed to me. I opened the letter which he had hand-written expressing his love and the last few years together. The last line "Once you are done reading this letter, please turn around as there is something I would like to ask you..." I turned around to find him on one knee holding a placard "Will you marry me" in one hand and in the other hand, a box with a beautiful princess cut diamond ring. Between the tears and shock, I excitedly answered "yes" to be his wife and marry him. After we settled into the moment and wiped away our happy tears, we called our parents to share the news and made our way to a restaurant for supper. Upon walking into the restaurant, our entire family was there waiting for us to share in the celebration. This was very special that he made the time and effort coordinating that everyone we loved was there to share in our precious and beautiful memory.

Our highlight for our wedding day amongst many, was our wedding blessing. All our preparation and planning was centered around our wedding blessing and church ceremony- the detail of my entrance hymn was Ennio Morricone's, "Gabriel's Oboe" played by our dear friend, Charl and accompanied by a string ensemble. We love music and this captured in most of the elements of our day. Our wedding ceremony and blessing was truly perfect- the bible verse from Exodus 25vs23 which we strive to live by everyday. We loved the slightly overcast weather and burst of rain whilst taking our pictures at Rhodes Memorial. Our reception was a beautiful arrangement of white, rose gold and marsala as our guests settled into the hall, we had a solo violinist playing during canapé hour as well as an opera performance by our wonderful family member "La Traviata" was just a few of the highlights of the day to entertain our guests and celebrate our love through music.
Our honeymoon was in our beautiful home while we decided to tour our beautiful city, Cape Town for a week doing wine tasting, touring museums and enjoying our week of bliss.
A vintage inspired look for my day was something I always dreamed of. My hair was a 20's style sweep done by Mousse Hair& Beauty and my make up done by Lindy Lin. My wedding dress was bought by Bride &Co.-a mermaid style white satin dress with a silver crystal belt and lace embroidded "poncho" style cape. I wore a red velvet sandal and my accessories were gifts from my mother- beautiful pearl and diamond studded earrings.

We got married at the New Apostolic Church in Kuilsriver where our guests were invited for reception at the Roodebloem Studios Church Hall in Woodstock. Our guests enjoyed the celebration with food and wine as they celebrated our wedding celebration.
We planned our wedding in six weeks and in that time, my main focus in the short period was ensuring that I drank enough water everyday and had my spa treatment as part of my wedding regime a day before the wedding.
My colour scheme was rose gold, marsala and blush with all our guests wearing black to the wedding. My décor was simple and elegant and brought in elements of my wedding colours including our flowers which were an array of lily's, roses and barberton daisies. We loved the simplicity and elegance of our wedding décor.
They chose simple dark grey suit which was bought at Trenery with a beautiful marsala tie. Both my husband and best man wanted to keep their look simple and smart. I must say, they definitely pulled off the look. My husband looks so handsome :)
My sister was chosen as my bridesmaid and it was the easiest item we purchased the wedding. She wore a beautiful champagne chiffon dress with lace top that was bought at YDE.
Our marriage officer was Priest Paul McAvoy.
Kusjka Du Plessis was the awesome lady who captured our magical day. She truly understood who we were as a couple and was able to capture special moments.
Elizabeth Odendaal from Lizo's Catering assisted in coordinating the wedding day and plan of events from the church through to reception.
Elizabeth Odendaal at Lizo's Catering was the wonder women who made everything at our wedding, from the canapés, our starters which was a chicken phyllo basket and our main dish which was a lamb shank with sweet potatoe and butternut puree. She was truly amazing in everything she made and presented to us.
My three tiered cake made by Hanlie Jones at Mrs Jones Cakes was made with absolute love- top layer carrot, middle layer red velvet and bottom layer chocolate and was presented as our dessert at the wedding.
Every bite taken by all the meals and dessert presented felt like a melting moment and as if time stood still.
Our awesome DJ, Sebastian Africa met with us prior to our wedding to go through our wedding requirements and the plan of events to ensure he covered every angle. Our guests partied the night away and although our curfew was 11pm, our guests left after midnight with us being the last to leave our wedding venue...
