We had the most amazing weekend wedding! The majority of our guests arrived the Friday afternoon and we had a GOOD South African get-together. Family from the UK celebrated with us in true SA-fashion, a braai :)
We got married on the 16th of December 2017 in Riebeek Kasteel, on a beautiful farm called Goedgedacht - nature at its BEST!
OUR HIGHLIGHTS: After the ceremony, our guests enjoyed pre-drinks, and we decided to join them for a glass of bubbly before going off for photos. Impulsively we also decided to cut the cake at the pre-drinks :) It was so good to see our guests enjoying the atmosphere and pre-drinks vibe!
When we returned from our 'photoshoot' we also decided to open the dancefloor with a BANG! Non-traditional, but we loved every second of it.
We started with the speeches, had a goooood meal and the rest is history, THE PARTY BEGAN!
Think walks on the beach, cocktails and Summer vibes - we went to Thailand for our honeymoon :)
A truly memorable experience we will never forget.
OUR LOOK for the wedding was quite simple: We wanted to reflect US during our weekend wedding. We kept the whole look rustic and plain (The farm helped a lot with the look and feel too)
My dress - I was fortunate enough to be able to wear THE DRESS. Beautiful, but simplistic. I opt out of high heels, and rather went for comfy pear sandals.
We got married on a beautiful farm called "Goedgedacht Farm" situated between Malmesbury and Riebeek Kasteel. When we got engaged, we had one main goal, and that was to have a weekend wedding where all the guests can stay over and enjoy themselves. That is most definitely what we got with this venue, enough accomodation for all our guests. We LOVED IT!
Serene and relaxing with the extra benefit of being snuggly fit amongst the rolling hills 23km outside Groblersdal.
Our bridal party regime was filled with various celebrations. As some of our groomsmen and bridesmaids was in the UK and in Dubai, we most definitely prolonged celebrations up & until the day prior to the wedding :)
We kept all our elements minimal. We wanted to reflect nature in all our main components. Think wood, hay bales, hessian bunting and fynbos. We had pallet tables with ghost chairs, and for table decor we used fynbos, proteas and some wooden lanterns. For our table numbers, we decided to use the table wine :) The look and feel of the decor truly reflected what we LOVE!
The groomsmen wore beige trousers, with white shirts, rounded of with a wooden badge :)
Since it was quite hot on that day, they changed into shorter pants after all the nitty-gritty stuff.
My bridesmaids wore beautiful tulle skirts - along with their choice of tops. Each skirt was a different color. They looked absolutely gorgeous!!
Our marriage officer was our pastor, Anton Roux. We had a discussion prior to the big day regarding THE MESSAGE we would like him to talk about. It was perfect :)
Our photographer was Chrisél Mouton - she has her own company called Chrisél Mouton Photography. She took the most beautiful pictures and included every detail.
Our friends surprised us with a wedding video. They were with us for the Friday night and made a video of the pre-wedding celebrations, as well as on the wedding day. It's truly the best gift we received!!!
Nope :) We went the DIY route. I made most of the decor myself, with the help of awesome family and bridesmaids.
For pre-drinks we had a big bread table containing various breads, spreads and snacks. We were blessed with a HUGE cheese stack from Fairview which rounded it all off.
For the mains we hired a spitbraai company called 'Oor die kole Spit" - they most definitely matched to the highest standards. Their food was delicious and highly recommended!
Our beautiful naked cake consisted of a layer of carrot cake, topped off with a layer of plain vanilla cake. Seriously delicious! It was made by a lady called Deidre, who owns her own business "Kollewyntjie".
I did all the wedding stationary myself :) From the "save the dates" to the "thank you's" and I loved every second of it!
For our first dance we just "winged" it and (to us) the result was a success. Our DJ was Glen Gie, who also supplied us with a beautiful checked floor and lightning. Glen is highly recommended!
